View attachment 8502

lol that's me mate I wear them to hide my tattoos and to soften my image down because of my frame and years of training a xxl polo shirt looks like a stretched small tee shirt and I look like a debt collecter

heres just one of my sleeves that that wife was doing when we had our tattoo shop

Boar, I'd just like to take the opportunity to thank you for all the pressure washing work you've sent my way this year. I've bought a small yacht with the proceeds.

Why hide your image/tattoos? You run your own business, you should just be who you are @noddy and wear clothing to suit your work, I have tattoos myself never feel I need to hide them and wouldn't, never have had a problem, i think those days passed some time ago mate. Stay true to yourself and who you are I say. My local pub there is a chap that comes in there full facial tattoo and prob only got about 1% of skin left without ink, and prob about 100 piercings, cracking bloke and is a full time mechanic with a great reputation, I doubt he goes to work in a mask and a long sleeved dress shirt.

Mmmmmm. I tend to keep mine covered as well. I know your right trev, but its what some of the older generation might think. If its boiling, then sod it I will wear t. Shirts.

F*** em I say @steve garwood if they can't see past some ink then for me anyway there not the type I'd want to do any work for anyway. I only have top of my arms done anyway so unless I am in just a polo shirt then they cant be seen, but all summer never give it a thought.

Yeah, fk em!

I'm not ashamed to show mine off....

Wish when I was younger I only had the top of my arms done, but being a 17 year old idiotic skinhead I had the bottom of my arms done first with **** tats. Had em recovered since, but still regret the lower ones

Nope, that's my busiest area, I grew up there lol!!

You must have heard me wrong, I remember you saying that it was just a bit too far for you...

Harwhich is defo too far, I cover from Alresford right through to Wormimgford, and also Dedham and ardliegh,

And everything in between,

But Wivenhoe is where I started my round, my mum still lives there,

You must have misheard amongst the confusion of areas covered etc...

@noddy I get your idea mate!

Cos in every area, there's people who still think window cleaning should cost £5. I wouldn't do it myself, bit often thought I'd somehow like to get that money but not do the demoralising work.

So how about employing someone to do all that work, and he keeps half and you keep half. He might only turnover £150 a day tops, but that's £75 extra a day for you. Expenses aside, it could be worthwhile.

Have you not read the answers in this thread?

Your the only one to be supportive? Are you insane? Or completly bone idle?

Yes it's a 'good idea', (on the face of it) but it's very very bad for window cleaning.

If you lived in the same area noddy was setting this up, would you be happy? No.

We've all worked hard to drag window cleaning from the pits, and your supporting the idea for a return?

It would have a knock on effect for the whole industry, and I know for a FACT noddy would have some serious enemy's if he decided to go for the idea, we all get on in our area, and this would be detrimental to say the least.

Window cleaning needs to stay higher priced, for the sake of us all,

If someone decides on a business plan to go for low prices, then everyone window cleaner in the area suddenly has to compete, including noddys own higher end company, which is bad for all,

I'd like to think there's more respect for the job than that.

I know nearly all the local window window cleaners, and they have all helped to bring the job out of the beer money fest it was years ago. Smart vans (noddys included) and good kit have really made the Job a much more respected and something to be proud of trade. It should stay that way, for the sake of us all,

We deserve to be treated as professional people, with a wage to match. We work hard for a living, and a lot of is have invested heavily on equipment and professionalism.

Of course, I know that jake.

I'm talking about the customers that look at you in disbelief when you give them a price higher than say £5. They're not gonna change and all of a sudden accept paying £10, they'll just wait till cheapo comes round. So why let the cider merchant come round and do that.

The way I'd do it is canvas them with proper pricing, and if they have a heart attack for it, agree the price they're happy with and give it to your employee.

No other proper window cleaner is gonna get them anyway? Cos they won't do it for cheap anyway.

I'm not on about going round undercutting people. That's flawd thinking. Going back to the hotel analysis, other hotel owners don't go into rival hotels and offer lower prices. So we can't go to others customers and undercut them.

However, if you've set your mind that a hotel room should never cost more than £50 a night, no matter how many people tell you it's a £150, you're not gonna go for it, you'd rather stay home! Here type of people, you're not taking away from anyone,

Long term it is bad though, cos it doesn't fix their broken thinking that window cleaning is chips.

(I doubt I'll go through with this business idea, not enough money in it for the hassle anyway!!)

Or you could just leave it to the beer money cleaners and let the customer get so fed up of crappy service, things getting stolen, windy not coming for 6 months etc. Once theyve experienced all of that they will see the value in a professional service, and thats when you come in with a proper price. Its like the evolution of a good customer- they need to experience the s*** before they appreciate a good service.

Used to be a guy round here who took on beer money dolers, he charged £3.50 a house and payed them a fiver an hour, he made a lot of money as he earned off them and because he was cheap he always had lots of customers.

WELL DONE LADS

its so rare these days to have a chat about something like this without people falling out and name calling , theres been so many different views and not one time as a admin had to remove a post or ban someone for that I tip my hat to all of you

today I set my new company up , just like my old one we will be stopping at our normal priceing not because of not wanting to upset anybody because I wouldn't care if I did or not ,

after reading most views on here I got down to the real why I think its a good idear for me and its laziness simple as that , me being lazy and counting on peoples greed to build a round without doing much apart from bank rolling it ,

plus I could never cover the work if that one van broke down with one from the other fleet I could never send the same staff in to a street in a different van and charge a different price , it would just take one customer to figer it out then were busted I could see I can of worms being opened so its a no good guess I need to stop being lazy lol
