Earlier in the year towards the start of summer I sold of a part of my round on the other side of town, in an area I am not so interested in developing
To help out these lads I included a property I was on the fence about, an assisted living facility, 3 hours work per month £140 per clean.
Well I have had calls on three occasions from this home (as well as other clients on this round) telling me that these lads have not turned up, are very un-reliable and over all not very professional.
End of last week the 'Assisted Living center' calls me up again telling me that they have been let down yet again and could I chase them up.
I explain that it is really nothing to do with me anymore, however if no joy I will happily step in and get the windows done for them (with no real intention of this happening as I figured the muppets are just running late in the month)
Today I get a text from said lads 'Hello mate, can you sell my round for me, haven't done it for a while as doing other things but need some cash for xmas - will let it go cheap for £XXX'
I replied 'Hello mate, don't know anyone looking at the mo but I have had calls from people on that round saying you haven't been doing it which will make it tough to sell it on to someone as a quality maintained round it was when I sold it to you and also the care home is complaining that you don't go but I will keep my ears open'
He replies 'Cheers mate'
Now my dilemma is that when I sell a round, the money is only part of it, my clients are good to me so I feel a responsibility to them by selling them to a decent reliable lad that will maintain the round as I have. These lads have not bothered.
Now I feel as these lads are not maintaining the round at all they no longer have any actual claim to it, and I am not really bothered as I don't plan to work that area but I am seriously considering taking back on the assisted living facility.
I do not feel I am doing wrong here. I see it as no different to them buying a perfectly good pair of shoes wearing them once or twice and then tossing them out and someone else thinking 'oh those are still perfectly good, I will put them to good use'
Thoughts from the devils advocates on here?
