Hi all,

First of all apologies for not introducing myself and posting a problem!

I have a pure freedom dual control set up. All of a sudden the digital controllers do not control the pumps. The pumps automatically go to 100psi and the only way I can stop them is by removing a fuse. The controllers are on and with the arrows move up and down but have no effect on the pumps.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

@doug atkinson is on-line, he might be able to help.

Sounds as if you may have burnt your controller. If you open the case and can smell a burnt smell then you have short circuited the pcb board.

Thank you Doug,

Opened the case and yes smells like its burnt out. New controller delivered tomorrow.

The system is about 6 yrs old, do you think it's general wear and tear or can human error burn out the pcb board?

Cheers

Reverse polarity is probably the main cause. Damp/water getting inside is another.

Ian Sheppard put this comment on another forum regarding a cleaner who had a problem with his controller.

"Now controller two is showing signs of water ingress or moisture on the PCB a number of the components are discoloured and showing brown staining. This unit has likely been shorted out. This unit may be repairable. Ideally i would ask you to return that to us for further inspection."

Thank you Spruce,
I do generate a lot of condensation in the van so could be the problem.

Rather than mess on it's probably better to replace the controller.

But you need to tackle the water problem.

The worst issue for us was water leaking from the hose reel when it was put back in the van. So we filled the back of some Hozelok connectors with silicone adhesive. This acts as a seal and stops water drips. We also shake the brush head and drain the pole hose of water before the brushes are put back into the van.

Thankfully the tank lid is pretty water tight although we sometime get a leak through the vent when the tank is very full.

We still get a little condensation on the roof of the van in cold weather, so I do dry it off with a towel occasionally. I also try to air the back of the van when the weather is ok and the van is parked on the drive.

Yea I must admit I'm not the best at ensuring the van is water free. I also offer other services, including carpet cleaning and jet washing and water does leak. Even though the van floor is lined, I've also fitted a pond liner so I can see the water pool and mop it off.

Will be looking for another van and upgrade to a hot water system in a year. Any idea on a good value system, not ionics prices /emoticons/smile.png
