I think 2015 was the best year most of us have had in a long time - - but what are your business plans to make sure 2016 continues the trend?

I've given up on print advertising entirely now - I never did a lot, but its been a long time since it actually gave decent results.

Last year I was kept busy mostly from referrals & a little forum advertising (Here and the dark side!), along with facebook & twitter. This year I'm thinking of starting a youtube channel with web design tips and tricks. Not only is it great advertising and brilliant for my SEO - but I'd hope it'd help my clients get more out of their new websites too.

I will carry on as I am. 3 good days at work gets me more than enough money. 4 days for doing wot I want. I'm not ambitious. I will leave that to the other windys

I am totally with you on that. I'd like 4 days but 3 would suit me fine & give me more then enough money for what I need. I'm not that ambitious but just steadily creep on.

I like the honesty here. There's almost an expectation that people HAVE to be ambitious. My aim for 2016 is to get a bit busier than I am now but me and the wife share the childcare and fit our work around each other so that holds me back a bit.

Think we're quite similar posh. I've never been ambitious. I'm with a new lady now after 25 years with the wrong one. I wanna spend time with this one and enjoy it. I'm not getting any younger as they say. If people need to do 6 days a week and never take time off that's up to them. Not a race to the end!

My initial plans are to spread out my work, shorten my days a little, and allow room to take on people in my existing areas in an effort to condense my round. Folk on the outskirts of my round will be sold or passed on. I have a few custies that I should never have taken on due to there location, but kept them as they are nice folk.

Don't blame ya tolish. I only use about £15 of diesel a week in me van and that usually includes a sneaky ride to norwich to see the lucky lady. I'm there now but used me car this time.

Hammered work for 5 years and established an excellent round which will now performs at about 90% of what I expect.

Next year will see price increases and removing work I no longer want (which is absolute minimal)

Window cleaning will expand to an extent but decided to other revenue streams now.

Window cleaning is bread and butter. Without the stress of getting new customers. Worrying over losing one customer. I can now concentrate on my other ideas.

Working less for more money is always a bonus.

£15 is good going. I reckon a big drive in spring is going to have my round exactly where I want it, and maybe this year I'll be making decisions on the methods I use.

Yep agree with all the above. I've 2 full 6 weekly rounds with no trad or insides so content with my life. I do 5 days a week finishing early on a Friday so I can get into London on the lash. I'm friendly with another local windy who I pass on any new customers, he just pays me 2 cleans for them

Living the dream. Happy new year fellow windies /emoticons/wink.png

I was a 6/7 days a week man for a long time, for no other reason than I have always enjoyed what I do, however window cleaning is an industry where there is not an awful amount of customer appreciation (not that I am in it for the praise but the occasional thank you is appreciated)

Now days after working like a dog the past 3 years I swear by the 4.5 day week - Monday to Friday (early finish always on a Friday)

I do this as I do still enjoy the work and cant see how those that love to moan and whine about it actually get up in the mornings, I have however recently rekindled interest in some hobbies that got left by the wayside the past few years so now I ensure weekends belong to me. Also I only work to a 4 week month so plenty of extra long weekends throughout the year.

Plans for 2016? Next van on the road by March with another by summer - hopefully 2 more canvassers before summer also, onward and upwards,

I have a true love for our industry and do not consider it to be 'work' so to speak and in fact sometimes consider building the company a hobby as I do find it more fun than not so for me it is not a question of ambition or lack of, just plod along and grow it at it's natural rate.

Not have an accident (body, van, equipment), be less of a 'yes man', put a set time aside for invoicing & accounts and go on x2 holidays.

Loads more but that will do for now!

Ha ha!.....that is quite optimistic isn't it!

Ok:

Have less accidents, be a bit less of a yes man, start my accounts in at least December and not wait till late January.....but I am still pretty confident about those holidays as they are already booked and paid for /emoticons/smile.png

"This time next year rodney!!!!"

I aim to get a bit busier but not work any weekends

Nearly where i want to be but definitely need a bit of a push for the beginning of 2016

the xmas break is a time for reflection. and long days idle it quickly gets boring ! iv got visiting family around, theyve got regular jobs but cant stop batting off ridiculous hobby/business ideas .

Its funny when people go thinking up business ideas, they always go for the obscure and quirky, rather than thinking "What is it lots of people want or need?". Then because of the obscure/quirkyness of the venture they then decide not to do it.....and then go back to there normal lives. Waste of a conversation.

I'm gonna come back as a chiropodist. Cost my mum £24 for about 15 mins. I know she has to travel to people's houses. She might do 2 or 3 an hour. Quite similar in planning to the window cleaning. Except it's in the dry and they earn more than us. Well more than me anyway unless I'm on a good job( which I will be on wed)
