So am I out of order??

I get the odd few that mess me about or try and skip cleans. I'm fairly relaxed about it and give them the benefit of the doubt most of the time. I normally give them two or three chances before they get ditched.

I've had three or four this week who have asked me not to come. A couple have been single mums. I guess they're skint after Xmas so I don't mind too much.

One customer really ****** me off last night though. Lovely woman who I always have a good chat with and hasn't messed me about before. I sent her a text so she could leave the money out (as she always does) and she replied "can we leave this month please".

I don't normally get wound up about it but this one really got to me. God knows why. I sent her a stern reply about how I don't skip cleans, I need a certain amount of customers per month, blah, blah, blah and she immediately replied to apologise and to say that she had scaffolding going up today as she was having her roof done. She couldn't apologise enough poor woman.

She could have mentioned the scaffolding to start with but it goes to show that some customers do have genuine reasons for not wanting us once in a while.

Thanks for all your input lads, the ironic thing is today the 5th Jan is my one year anniversary as a business owner and this is the first real messer I have had on my books to date, yes I've had a few who's wanted to postpone a clean that's due until the next one and I can live with that as I understand that sometimes things can be a little tight or they have other things to deal with. But the fact that thus one tried to postpone me twice in a row due to the fact that it MIGHT rain really got my goat.

 when taking on any customers I believe We are both entering into a kind of partnership,on my part I agree to clean the property to a spotless condition on each and every scheduled occasion, I agree to always contact them the night beforehand and I agree that I will always clean within Two/Three days of the agreed time frame and that is what I ALWAYS do. On the customers part they agree to a certain interval to which I clean the property, they agree to pay me the price they accepted and they agree to pay me within 7 days. So when a customer chooses to renege on any of the above I get a little bit disheartened.

As I've said this is my first year in business and I know I will have to learn to deal with this kind of thing, but find it quite hard for now as I take my business very, very seriously due the fact its my full time PROFESSION. It's the best move I've made regarding job choices and I wouldn't have it any other way

I havent had much in the way of cancellations, but I have always played out in my head how I would mess with a bad custy that cancels. It would go a little something like this...
"Hi, I would like to cancel as my husband is going to do them from now on".

"Sure, thats fine, I'll be there tuesday".

"Sorry, I think you have missunderstood, I would like to cancel your services".

"Yes no problem we can switch it to wednesday if you like?"

"No, we don't need a window cleaner any more!".

"Yes, its still £12, see you on friday".

No, we don't need it!!!!!

"Yep, frames and sills too".

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Would be great to see how many texts you could get out of them before they ignore you./emoticons/biggrin.png
TAP my friend I'm going to text the bad payer that message right now. Love it! /emoticons/biggrin.png

No response yet. BF is probably up to his nuts in guts. Unless she texts while on the job /emoticons/biggrin.png
Not to put ideas into you head Tuffers, but, turn up at the house and start cleaning the bedroom window now.

When those one pop up i try reminding myself that im the owner so no customer dictate me to what to do, but she seem to think that 16 weekly is fine if she skip every other. Funny how she convince herself she get them done 8 weekly

How was her reply Danfire?

People like that wind me up the most. At least have the decency to say you're skint. Funny how they never had a problem with "a haze over the windows" before.

Yeh really wound me up this morning to say that, pure water will not haze the bloody glass, I took it as a bit of a insult but have said my bit further down on the texts and removed them. A haze "if true" would come from cleaning with harmful chemicals or a issue with the glass itself, so I told her its prob on the insides by using mr muscle etc.

Thing is the texts came from the women whom I have never met, the bloke approached me in their street while cleaning another and since doing his has always being a nice chap, the kind of customer you think you would have for the forseable.

Be interesting later as I am cleaning directly opp theirs and their daughters

Her story doesn't add up. If there was a haze on her windows she would have complained, not tell you to come back next time. *******. Also, not sure how you can get a haze from wfp, that seems more of a trad issue where it's not been scrimed properly.
