I brought one for my 22ft. as I have 2 houses on same day where I need it. The 2 houses total to a £100 so one clean and its paid for.

Yep we need more shazzy posts!
one tip shazzy is to either chop a couple of inches off the pole section and glue a new clamp on-or cut the section just by the clamp.turn it upside down and glue a new clamp on,re-tape the section to act as a stop and away you go again

I've done the trick myself of building up a worn section with epoxy resin, which worked well.

Also, there's an advertiser on here selling kits to remedy this problem. They are Carbon Fibre strips and resin. Never tried them, but they look a good idea. More expensive than some epoxy resin, but if they work well, they could be worth it.

Sorry, I'm on Tapatalk now, posting links to other posts is difficult on it. Otherwise I'd find the ad for you, and post the link.

For quality poles (as they claim) there not that clever. Clamps all the wrong position and wear issues. Best value is ntech Streamline but make sure it is ntech as the streamline brand is poor,Tried the grey one badly worn after 7 weeks) My 17ft fibre glass poles last over a year with 30 hours of use a week and under 2 KG at about £130.00 inclusive a bargain.

First of all welcome to the forum /emoticons/smile.png

I would be very interested to know why you feel the clamps are 'all the wrong position' and what 'wear issues' you have encountered as it has been the experience of those in the industry that the quality of our carbon poles and Smart clamps provide our poles with class leading longevity.

Wow cant remember the last time I started a thread? :heartbreak:

I use gardeners slx poles, after a while they start spinning due to wear on the pole just where the clamps are, so when I release the pole to its smallest I have to leave a gap between the clamps. Its fine when its erected :windowcleaner:.... is there anything you guys put on the pole to stop this happening. It is just wear and tear, I'm a bit gutted tho, as only use the pole 3 times a week, and this started happening 9 months later,

Also I have 20 days off due to a small operation. will my water in the static tank and van stay clean?,

Thanks for any help. Hope you all have a lovely Christmas and new year. Don't get to drunk. and smile and bare it with the in laws :ban:

Hi shazzy

Sorry to hear your are having issues - how old are the poles and which size are they? Could you email me on [email protected] with photos of the wear and I can look into this for you.

Been using poles for 6 years now and always asked opinions of others to judge quality. General opinion on this pole is quite good but pound for pound poor value.

Just found receipt for 2 Ntec streamline poles dated April 2013 and replaced March 2015 which equates to 23 months or 2600 hours of use (hols deducted) Bottom line 5 pence per hour of use.

As for the clamps they protrude and as such will impact with your hand/fingers, when cold painful and if you misjudge the section coming down again impact to hand as were not sat in an office here but often working at pace. Take a close look at the ntec clamps which I believe are of similar design but with a far superior streamline shaping to the pole. Just to clarify wear issues were with the pole not the clamps

Oh that's fine then, I thought it was something you had experienced but it's actually your opinion which we're all entitled to!

I still work on the glass with these poles and have never experienced your concerns with the clamps. Our clients are not shy in coming forward if they feel an improvement can be made and we welcome constructive feedback. At the moment we have over 11,000 happy Gardiner pole users so the poles must be hitting the mark with some window cleaners /emoticons/wink.png

as Alex says thats your opinion, mine is Gardiner are by far still the best on the market and theres a reason theyre the most popular!

ive never had any issues with the clamps myself and certainly never caught my hands on them, the smart clamps are spot on and ive barely had to adjust them.

i use the slx now but when i first started i bought the clx and used it over a year and if your looking for a cheap pole like the one you mentioned for comparablilty a clx 22 cost me about £130 if i remember rightly with the brush and hose that comes with it and a year later i sold it for £110 and it was still really good condition in fact im certain i'd still be using it now if i didnt upgrade.

using a pole for a year and losing £20 i would say is incredible pound for pound value, people forget that with Gardiner you get resale value in future if you decide to renew or upgrade, theres not many other poles that you can bang on ebay and get anything near half your money back!!!!

My opinion was 100% constructive based on use and feed back. Very surprised at the defence of protruding clamps on a collapsible pole though as if the staff get injured you as the employer would be bang to rights as it is an unnecessary risk. Also one fluke resale des not quite reflect the true cost of that pole. Happy cleaning V.

alex gardiner
someone will be ringing tomorrow morning on my behalf to order the slx 35 and other bit and pieces, are u around tomorrow?
Hi Dave

I will not be in the sales office tomorrow, but I have let the team know that your relative will be calling and the products that we had previously discussed.

oi alex I don't care about the wear and the clamps when you going to make a pole with a sticker that doesn't come off with in weeks of using your pole !!!!

come on get it sorted I like my stickers

Hi noddy

We don't use stickers (they can come off within weeks!) but use screenprinting which lasts a lot longer. Sounds like you work too hard /emoticons/wink.png
