Ok my story.

Well to do lady who thought she was above everyone else but a lovely lady.

Always rang her Sunday & let her tell me what day was best. Would cancel night before if rain was due in next 2 days but put up with her for 2 years.

Cleaned her last Xmas with the chap who was with me at the time. He also cleans her & her husbands cars.

Arranged her clean last February on a Wednesday. Call night before leave it as it's going to rain Friday???. Decided there & then no more.

She said she would ring me but until just before this Xmas never heard nothing. Then heard that she had her gardener doing them & my mate was doing her bottoms since I let him go in August. Was a bit peed off but nothing to worrying but before Xmas bumbed into her in wait rose.

Her. Hi Paul sorry I haven't been in touch but had so much going on.

Me. That's ok. I wasn't planning to do your Windows anymore anyway as got fed up with you keep cancelling coz it might rain in next 3 days. I also know your gardener & my mate has been doing them so I know your lying to me & I think your ignorant for at least not letting me know after all the times I rang you & let you pick what day you wanted.

With this she turned away & started to walk off.

Me I rather loud voice. But then I wouldn't expect anything else from someone like you who looks down on everybody.

Felt so much better.

My misses walked away.

A shocker! Imagine 100 of them on your books! Be enough to send you right out of the industry. Well gotten rid of I say, nobody needs those types!

You should'nt have let her off the hook- should have stripped naked and run after her screaming in a rage, that'll get all her waitrose buddies talking. /emoticons/biggrin.png Never had you down as a waitrose shopper, mate haha.

She was nice but what a pain in the ars. She was also a oh while your here merchant.

I felt so much better & hate people who look down on you coz in her eyes yer just a cleaner.

You do little xtras for people & they treat you like that. Only one I've had tho must admit.

Funny thing @TolishAPurd i weren't shopping. My sister in law works there & dropped in to give her presents & cards lol.
Glad I did.
Its good to be able totell them how it is. Especially since you were in the know about the gardener and ex employee.

That was my piece of resistance

I bump into my mate & he told me not knowing that she had not told me.

I've got one but wouldn't really call her a messer just a slight inconvenience which I'll remedy on te next clean.

I knocked on the door a couple of months ago (new build estate im in) Windows/frames were manky, due to the building work still going on. She said yes she would love and needs her Windows cleaned, have her the price for first clean (happy) gave her the price of the 4 weekly clean there after (happy) then informs me that I can't do them when she's out due to the dog!

Seemingly the dog goes absolutely mental and really aggressive when people come do the door that it doesn't know, which is true as I knocked the door a couple of times beforehand and it did.

Told her that she could email me her details and I'll contact to say when I'm coming to make sure she's in. Cracked on with them that time and she hands me £20 started in the pocket for her change, was a £15 first clean and she says keep it (whoop). Next time round was before Xmas, I was there about 1pm knocks the door and she's all dressed up for a Xmas night out, told her it will take 15-20 minutes tops and she said she can't wait and could I come back tomorrow. Luckily I picked up a further 4 houses in the street (with one of them an internal too) so said yes. Next day dos the Windows, £20 handed to me, handed over the £10 change and again told me to keep it, Xmas tip. Lovely woman but thinking the dog situation can become an issue in future, so going to get her number off her next time so I can text to let her know.

As per usual I (Me:))) text all my cleans scheduled for tomorrow and received this reply back from a customer who cancelled the last schedule clean 8weeks ago due to the fact it might rain during the week:cool:.
This customer is one of my very first customers and I offered what I now know (1yr later) was a low price for the clean due to the fact it was a group of 5 friends/family that I quoted on the same day, whom I now only clean 3 (including this one) of the five due to the fact the other two have now moved and have never got back in touch, one of whom I'd only cleaned once before they moved and the other I didn't even get to before moving! My question do you think that my response was unprofessional/out off order? I'm struggling to see it from the customers point of veiw to be honest.

This is the conversation so far:

Hi Me:),

Due to the forecasted weather this week please can I leave it again this time until next time round? Thanks ####

Hi #### no problem, just to let you know I will remove you from my schedule please feel free to contact me when you believe it won't rain and I will do my best to fit you in. I will also need to review the price as the agreed price is for an 8 weekly clean. Regards Me:)

Hi Me:), I'm a bit taken back by the tone of your text! Regards ####

Hi #### I'm sorry if you have taken it that way though as you have cancelled the last couple of times and our agreement is for every 8 weeks I thought the Arrangement I have proposed (something I don't generally offer) would suit you better? If I were to carry out your clean next time it's due it would in fact be six months since your last clean, the reason for regular scheduled cleans is to keep the windows relatively clean so that I do not have to carry out what's referred to as a first clean every time as this would take longer, use more purified water and inevitably cost more money. Regards Me:)
Good post @Greener

To be honest you were a bit sarcastic which is not professional - better to walk away without any bad feeling in my opinion

The text was in no way meant to be sarcastic, she had cancelled me twice due to the fact she thought it was going to rain at some point in the week, so I gave her the option to contact me when she believed it wasn't going to rain! How can that be mistaken for sarcasm? All I was trying to do was give her a choice, that's the problem with text conversation it can be taken in different ways depending on the persons mentality, trust me I could have been well and truly sarcastic if that was the way I wanted to play it.

When those one pop up i try reminding myself that im the owner so no customer dictate me to what to do, but she seem to think that 16 weekly is fine if she skip every other. Funny how she convince herself she get them done 8 weekly
How was her reply Danfire?
She hasn't got back to me, think I'd rather lose this one. Big house, I'd underpriced a little bit and didn't charge extra for the first clean because she said they had been cleaned a couple of months ago, turned out the husband had cleaned them by squirting a hose pipe on them. I swallowed that, put up with her skipping, didn't get a thank you when the cleaner asked if I could carry a heavy delivery into the house (gas BBQ in a box, weighed a tonne).

One good thing has come out of this. I have a new policy since yesterday and I used it for the first time today. New customers get a five minute chat now before I start, I explain all about how I clean, how wfp works, how I make appointments, options for payments, the aggravation factor for me if customers need chasing for payment so a system is agreed before we start. I explain how the rate is based on the frequency and that they are free to alter the frequency but the clean will take longer so the rate would change correspondingly (in my favour ) And I tell them about the add on services.

This went really well today and I now need to do the same with the half dozen existing customers that need put straight or culled.

I thought you were being sarcastic on purpose as well greener. I don't know how it can be interpreted any other way than sarcasm.

You could have said contact me when the weather's better.

I think you were entitled to the sarcasm mind

Well that's me bad LOL  all I can say is that if I was to say to some one not to come because it might rain and they told me to come when I believe it wont rain, I'd think nothing of it? Obviously I used the wrong terminology! Best bit was the day I was due to clean it was like a summers day sunshine and blue sky's all day

Just looked it up cuz I'm a bit like that LOL /emoticons/wink.png and the definition of believe is:

1. accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.

2. hold (something) as an opinion; think.

Being professional is all good and well, but sometimes you need a little release. I think your comment was spot on as it showed her the stupidity of her actions. Thats the reason she's annoyed, it exposed her idiocy.

I like your response. She can call next time she thinks it won't rain. Of course we ALL know it's always gonna rain so you'll never hear from her again. Her type never give me that call. I am nice and polite with no edge to my voice when I ask them to give me a call when rain isn't in the forecast.

She's afraid a worry wart. Try and respect her feelings and move onto somebody else who's more reasonable in their expectations. Some people just don't get it.

Woke up to this this morning: I fully understand the concept of regular cleaning, I think you have missed the point somewhat. I was referring to the sarcastic nature of you saying to me about believing it was going to rain. I think that was totally uncalled for and I don't expect, as a customer, to be spoken to in that manner.
Bin her without any regrets
