All the ones I text are ones with access issues. 1 springs to mind that I need to try and catch her in as he/she lets me through the house with my ladder, and has to move the beemer for my ladder to get the front tops. Sounds a pain in the **** but shes otherwise faultless as a customer, and fit as **** to boot. Would be a shame to miss out on that. If shes not about to let me through then I just do the fronts only, and at least the car is always moved out of the way for me.

Hello posh. I only usually work 3 days a week so I can usually catch up if it rains. They don't know the day I'm due. Just the week. I try to turn up on the right week. It usually works out ok.

The ones i message are mostly access issues or ones who stasy payment somewhere for me

A lot of my jobs are people who are never in when i do them but i can reach the bolt for the gate with my hand over the gate ao they don't get a message

Just a leaflet to say I've done them or a text after depending who it is

I have a good few who always pay as soon as they see my leaflet so that saves a message

The advantage of messaging is i only have 1 customer where i only do the front and that is what she has asked for..apparently nobody sees the backs so they don't need cleaning

She always pays but doesn't realise it would only be 2 quid more if i did the backs like her neighbours

2 quid for the back, what does she live in a shed @daveyboy1???? :whistle:/emoticons/wink.png

No mate..3 bed terraced with 1 velux in the roof at the front

£8 for the front whereas her neighbours all paye a tenner for the whole house

Not doing any job for a fiver so she pays 8 for the front

The guys that 'need the work' are the ones that 'rock up' surely?
no why would you want to tie your hands and have to get to the job you promisted to get there ? what happens if you get up the next morning and there snow on the ground ? your van wont start ? there a crash blocking the road and it puts you behind three hours ? let alone russing one job to get to the one you have txed the night befoure

ok you can retx them but once you have moved them once in a year and you do it again they will start to think your unreialble , much rather go out with a weeks work in the van and do as much as possablie and work round traffic , problems windows and anything else life throws at you I run my business not the customer

That's why i only text access issue jobs and ones who will leave the cash hidden for me for when i turn up

This is a pantomime thread -- Oh no you must text, oh no you mustn't!!

It's simply horses for courses lads, whatever floats your boat.

Personally I am in camp text - I never have access issues as they know I am coming and on the rare occasion I get a 'leave it' it is for genuine reasons.

If I have text, and then I rock up and then I get a 'leave it' then I know for sure they are on the messers list and no more will I clean their windows.

But as said whatever works for you as an individual, personally I can't imagine running my round without doing so.

I'm quite lucky in that almost all of my customers are either in or the houses are easily accessible. For those that are not I've managed to convince them to have a key cut in exchange for a free clean.Otherwise it's a text the night before, unless it's raining next day but even then I tend to clean them as long as it's not heavy.

Got 2 flats in a block, one 3 storey, one ground, every 8 weeks £15 each, got a text yesterday from the 3 storey job. "Can you leave both our flats til March it's not worth it with all this bad rain", I replied sorry I pay bills all year round thank you for your custom goodbye. She text back saying I was rude, good.

I think its an advantage texting the night before. You get to your jobs with gates unlocked and a smooth day ahead
Yeah but it gives them the chance to have a look. Decide they ain't to dirty then say skip this one. Also if u text and say u will be there tomo you're then obliged to turn up. Wot happens if a hotty offers u an afternoon of fun? Say no u can't cos you've text mrs smith and said u will be cleaning her windows?

I know whereyou are coming from as it is the reason that I very rarely take bookings anymore- it allows you flexibility to switch and change to suit yourself. But by not taking on any customers with locked gates or similar obstacles, I feel you are missing out on a huge chunk of the market and some great people too. If its working for you then great, keep doing what you doing.

I have a good enough relationship with my customers that if i text to say I'm coming tomorrow and then something happens i would just text to say there's been a change of plan

No biggie just means they need to unlock the gate another time

Yes! Get the work done then go home and bang the missis

Agree with @Green Pro Clean Ltd its professional to say your coming - people appreciate itEspecially older or single females

Yes very rare people reply with 'leave them' - it's usually 'great or thanks '

I say again if your worried about people cancelling that tells you somethings wrong with your business

If they do Cancel I ask why - you find out the messers quickly and dump - I dumped only one this year for cancelling for stupid reasons
I don't ask why it gives them an opp to lie and say something like "wasn't happy with the work" instead of the honest "we'll use you again when they are filthy saves us a few quid up until then".

Then you tell the hotty she should have text first?

i dont see the big issue here, i offer a text/phone service to my customers so they can get a text or a call the day before ig they like, mostly used for access problems or arranging if inside is due. I cant think of a time where i have them say leave it, and if it happened i dont really do other then say "ok" and do them next time or 4 weeks later.

Besides texting i knock the door before cleaning and i have never been sent away, i think some of you worry a heck of lot to much.

Had 2 text back to cancel tomorrow. One said she didn't want gate left open all day as it's not latching properly, I've told her to leave it on the bolt and I'll open it with my hook device. So that one's sorted.

The other one texted back "hello mate can you leave another month cheers". I've only done this house twice, I think I need to text back with 'I offer all year round cleans unless you are having building work or similar'
