Canvassing

I am thinking of employing someone part time 16 hours per week to help canvass as I am at the point where I cant work and canvass.

I have space for work, but I really want to be able to have someone focus just on canvassing whilst I work the jobs.

I believe canvassing is the best form of advertising I have done, best return.

I was thinking of doing 16 hours over five days, which is roughly 3 an a bit hours per day early evening. They would have a target of minimum two jobs a day to hit. I would pay £8 per hour.

I would teach them pricing and spend a few hours to start with, with them.

Do you think this is a fair job offer. Any thoughts would be welcomed..

Its been discussed a lot recently a few people have dabbled with it including myself,

yes its a fair job offer but good luck finding someone decent, its a bit hit and miss.

but speak to @Green Pro Clean Ltd he`s the man in the know and has his own part time canvassers

Although I'm a newbie to the window cleaning, canvassing and new business is my background.

It's basically a numbers game and I'd suggest perhaps giving % of first clean if they agree to your regular round. In three hours you could knock 100 doors and not gain anything but still have to pay out. Your actually asking someone to sell on your behalf, so pay them in on results.

Not many people are willing to knock doors even less are willing to work for commission only.

The idea is you play the long game, some day you could pay £20-£25 out out for three hours and get nothing the next day you could gain £50 of work from them. Theres going to be messers but even if 50% turned out to be great ongoing customers over the course of a few months you would be very unlucky to be out of pocket.

i have a guy lined up for tuesday we are going to be doing 5 hours canvassing, i will be paying him £7 p/h so £35.

if i can get £35 of work between us i will be very happy.

Went out today with a woman. She wasnt very good tbh wasn't really interested In doing what I said and wanted loads of hours.

Nah. I picked up 2 though so covered her wage.

Got a different guy to try tomorrow. Got to make sure they do it the way you want it done or there's no point.

Anyone who's any good will want to work for commission only cause they'll make more money.

Ask prospective candidates if they would like an hourly wage or commission then pick the one that opts for commission.

I dont actually agree with the above, i think those that are paid commission are likely to be a bit more pushy and may sign up customers who are not 100% but manage to get talked into it by salesman types, thats the only gripe i have with employing an outside canvasser they are there to do the job as quick as possible and get people signed up.

Now from my limited experience canvassing vs paying someone else the ones i sign up i dont think ive had a cancellation where as ive had a lot of cancellations when ive paid for them. I think its down to the relaxed way i pitch, i want to know if they WANT a window cleaner im not interested in umming and arring over it. They have to WANT a window cleaner and show a genuine interest for me to want to close the deal.

Just been out with a different guy and we picked up £45 worth in 3 hours.

Not great but I'm breaking even on it so far which is enough for now.

mate well ur on the right track with this guy it willl get better going into feb then march will be good the brighter the evenng get the more u will get keep it up @adamangler i went out tonight picked up 3

only problem is hes limited for time as he works another job but he has said he will work for commission only at 1 clean when he has spare time.

so despite what i said above about commission lol i will probably let him do it for a bit and see how it goes.

To be honest peter i feel much more confident now knocking so will likely get out on my own regardless
