bought some more work

Yes that's exactly it , the rounds worth what it is to you. At the end of the day if I don't buy it someone else will, there's plenty of big operations down my way that have up to 7 men working for them going round in people carriers who would just snap it up , that's how long it takes to do traditional and looking at it we can do it quicker than what he says, once I get the jist of it il start to introduce the pole do speed it up again

I should add my days are usually 6 working hours with half an hour lunch break buy with my other work surrounding it it will all piece in nicely making it less time consuming in the long run

Hit jackpot with that small run today, met the customers and all and already have a car showroom to price up through it

i was out canvasssing this evening lol and there is local widies who charging 2.50 for fronts 4 for full house lol >>>>??? im 8-10 and thats cheap pmsl some prices round n,ire are fcuking joke

Same up here mate, prices are strange, it's the old boys that have never ever changed thier prices. Taxi driver was saying he pays £4 for his semi detached to get cleaned, asked if the guy does the frames and sills, nah it's usually like a tsunami running off the sill when he's done!!!

So the round makes just shy of 5300 a year

8x monthly value =3500

So if you have slack days then I'd go for it

You will then be in a new area and pick up more work I guarantee

Don't forget then also you are adding to your round selling price

You may buy the work but in 2 years that work will be worth more

Most business take years to break even or make a profit

I payed actually 10 x but looking back if I hadn't wouldn't have had the starting block I had and be were I am now

Good luck !!!

I got offered a round a 3x other day from a windy, its all cash collection so i declined.

Only thing with buying work is youre buying someone elses way of working.

I'd it's solid work and makes sense buy it. Still will turn a profit in its first year. and you will lose some possibly but the round will also naturally grow to if you do a good job

you can change that as long as its a better way of working.

dont see point in buying at 3x then potentially losing a load because they wont pay online. besides prices will be less then mine anyway

offer him 2 grand cash, tell him some will stop getting them cleaned, tell him you are taking a big chance, you should get more work for less surelly

I love all the suggestion of 'of tell him this and offer him that' some make it sound like this chap just got off the banana boat.

If someone buying work from me started on like that my response would be 'sorry pal, obviously not the round for you'

There is a lot of assumptions in the replies with things like 'customers that are cash now wont change to on-line' and so forth, how do we know have we asked the customers?

The golden rule of selling ANYTHING is it is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If the OP wants to pay 8X or 10X then he has obviously decided that it is worth it to him to do so.

It's horses for courses lads, personally I dont buy I canvass but there are a couple of old boys on 'my manor' that are part of the furniture and if they quit tomorrow I would possibly pay 12X as their rounds are older than double glazing itself.

It comes down (as always) to personal value.

I just potentially bought a small 20 house run off a guy for 1.5x value. It was his Saturday run which he can't keep going. Went and had a look at the books and the run and going to go round with him later and knock on his/my custies doors to introduce myself. Is there anything else I need to know, new to the buying thing and don't want to end up with him going back to get them after I've paid!

Looks trustworthy and I've got his address also. Will take the plunge on it and see what happens, gives me a boost in house numbers and it's for buttons in price. He does Windows for a bigger company and this run is near his house but it's his Saturday run and he can't keep on top of it, best part is the windows are due now so will get out next week to do them after hopefully meeting everyone tonight, which will get me the majority of my cash back straight away.

If you meet the customers and all mate and he says your taking it on there shouldn't be a problem .

Your 100% right green, it might not be a lot of work but this is a person who has knocked his balls In for this work over the past 7 years so as you would do is ask for as much as it's worth to you. If the time ever comes for me to sell work il think back to when iv been freezing my hands off stiff as a poker cleaning them and think yea it deffinetly owes me as much as I can get

Don't want to hijack your thread mate but that's me just back in from meeting all my new customers. A full days work for £180, everyone was brand new about me doing them, and nearly all of them get their gutters done yearly too.

Edit - turns out the boy didn't add up the totals properly, he told me £180 worth at a sale price of £300, turns out to be £250 worth win win
