I must say that I do work all weather, yesterday it was stormy and rainy cold . ( hate subs though, only because of wfp freezing up)But gotta pay van , fuel rent and so on . Earlier I use to wonder a whole lot about "what do the customers think" . I dont anymore , I just tell them that the only way I'm able to be precise and spot on every time,is exactly because I clean everyday. To many off-days and I'll be just another unreliable windy. They don't want that ,and you don't want that, and if you Put that angle on it , it'll go from " are you cleaning in that weather!? " to " thank you mr. window cleaner for your reliable service !":hehehe:

Horses for courses how anyone works is up to them, I allow plenty of gap time for catch up I just don't like getting wet or wind driven rain in my face while working. As wet as it's been this winter I haven't lost work.

Other way round I'm afraid it takes the pressure off, this experiment has been in place so long now it's satisfied me that it works, for example because of xmas I was a week late on my 3rd Friday of the month round but because my customers know it's the 3rd Friday of the month they expected me next time in 3 weeks, this especially suits elderly retired customers who are generally well organised and put things on calendars I have 2 ladies who do their shopping Friday morning knowing I am there after eleven, I don't even have to phone them, one even gets the key off next door the day before (who works) so I can get to the back and she pays for the 2. If it's raining she knows I will be there the next day or even the day after. As for holidays I have about 10 days off xmas and 2 weeks in the summer. My work is scheduled over a 4 day week with the flexibility of using Saturdays and the odd sunday used for "catch up" so this works and takes the pressure off.
All sounds unnecessarily complicated to me. But if it works for you......

Correct! Each to their own , isn't that why we are windies , love making my own schedule ..

For the gorge users out there you know what a absolute ball bag it is when you get behind because you have to manually move every day then make sure your 8 weekly work matches the same day ect ect so I say just crack on and don't get behind ! (In saying that I've only worked 3 days in the last two weeks because of **** weather.) just can't be helped.

It has been rough in in certain parts of the UK typically worse in Scotland but surely it ain't been that bad were some one gets more than 2-3 days behind at most , I typically work a 4 day week but right across January i ended up losing a days work a week .

As of now i am all caught up and 4 weekly custys are getting their second clean of the year all is good despite the forecast i go out and give it a go if it gets to bad i come home , I know a lad who is way behind and works the same town as me but he doesn't like working in general to honest i don't how he has managed this past 7 years .

My 4 weeklys r on their second clean of the yeat too mate. I'm all up to date

I think it's best not to have so much work that bad weather put you behind.

Why not work a 4 day week and concentrate on using any spare time to to canvass better paying and more compact work? I'm sure we all could get another 50 quid a day in with better organised work and have a day free for canvassing/ catch up/ day off etc. I think that's the way I'm gonna go anyway.

Quite correct you should never have that much work you are flat out, you need to make allowances for weather, I don't believe window cleaners work when it's hammering down, get higher payed work and do less, I haven't put my prices up for 3 years so I'll be putting another £200 a month on my round with immediate effect.

I'm totally full up and haven't canvassed for many years. If I full behind a few days, I don't give a toss, I just go back to work and start where I left off and don't even try to 'catch up'. Nothing wrong with being flat out I.m.o

In our first year of window cleaning we very quickly realised that having a full customer list in winter means you haven't enough work in summer. Adding more work in summer means that customers don't get serviced on schedule in winter, especially when the weather is bad.

That's exactly where I started however it has now crept up to 4.5 days per week. It is some of the best advice out there, should you be behind you have a day to catch up, if you fancy a canvass you have time, and if you feel like a long weekend away well then there's that option too!

Looks cold out there to me. Glad I'm off today. Just been out and cleared up my dogs poo as I do often. Nice to do it while it's frozen. Shame my custys don't do theirs.

Try my best just to get out can normaly get some done if not all i now start where i left of and its made my life so much easyier as some have said if your not out your not earning
