The bane of most windys existence is the collections. Always hated going out at night standing with hat in hand saying 'please sir, if it's no trouble might I have the money YOU OWE me?' Only to here excuse after excuse as to why I'm not getting paid.

Well the new regieme is her. As of April 30th this year the only choices will be Bank Transfer, GoCardless and Paypal. Not only does it make collecting a thing of the past but it's sooo simple to do. Of course Granny Jones who always has the kettle on and he purse in the front pocket of her apron can still pay on the day but as for the rest if they can't get on board they can go and become someone elses problem.

I get the feeling i will loose a handful the will insist it has to be cash for some bull reason or other but that's why the target date is April 30th as by rhen the sun should be shinning and replacing a handful of wasters should be simple.

It is also rather satisfying to log on to the bank in the mornings and see the balance topping itself up each day. /emoticons/smile.png)

I've done it myself. It's too time consuming waiting for cash . But I refuse to handle any kind of cash . I use only bank and something similar to go-cardless . If it's the elderly they are use having somebody to handle their banking anyway. In my case its mostly their children that does it for them . After I did it I can concentrate on cleaning only , and it minimizes the chatting.

Please explain GoCardless... How does it work?

Also PayPal has to be gifted so not charged?!

I only collect cash or cheque if they're in. I never go collecting. Haven't done it in 35 years. Always seem to get paid somehow. Got quite a few who r bacs. Mainly businesses.

Suppose it all right If they pay it, have a handful of customers that do it this way and I'm waiting a week on one of them to pay me

Just goto www.gocardless.com it is a real simple direct debit service.

There is a charge for paypal for goods and services and for me it is typicall abot 50p per transaction. However that is cheaper than my time and fuel going back in an evening to ask for the money.

So what happens if for whatever reason you don't clean the customers house that month do they still automatically get billed?

All sounds complicated mate. Stick to what you know. If it ain't broke don't fix it

As I've said in a previous post I've never collected in all my years. Just card em up if they're not in then either catch them or request they send u a cheque. Most people don't like owing you. They will find a way to pay

I don't mind collecting once I get up off my ass to go, hate the thought of it tho . Iv to go tonight :eek:o:

I couldn't waste a min of my time collecting what's already been earned. I put on here once before that there's a windy lives near me. Spends 4 hours every fri collecting. That's 4x 50 weeks. Equals 200. Divided by 40 hours for a weeks work. Means he spends 5 full weeks collecting his own wages. Plus petrol and wear n tear. No thanks

Totally Agree marky !

I'm down that road of spending too much time collecting, I always try and kill 2 birds with 1 stone by going shopping or something as I'm going that way anyway . Signed up for go cardless there, just need some info on it now from some users

No, you control the collections on line so if you miss it for any reason you just don't collect it. As for saying 'Oh they wont bother signing up' @Markyboy 50 they won't have a choice, credit control is as big a part of my business now as I am tired of having to chase around for £10 here £20 there when the click of a button it's all sorted.

Even the energy companies are dishing out smart meters now trying to get us all on pay as you go so they don't have to chase the money.

Fair play if you don't need to collect but most of us without you decades of experience probably do need to chase a few here and there. Who knows, once I have another 25 years to tweak my round I will never have to collect again either! /emoticons/tongue.png

Ok Greeno so I basically add the customer and this send them an email and they sign up to it, if I do the round a week late for talks sake I then issue the payment to them when iv done the work? Have they to accept my bill or does it automatically come out once I send ?

I've never collected. My "we've cleaned your windows" slips have my address, PayPal address and BACS details on, they either pay whilst I'm there or one of the other 3 options.
