hi all new member here.

Been a window cleaner for A number of years, building a good round etc and have for many of those years been using a combination of supplies but always stuck to one detergent glass gleam 4. Currently use ettore medium rubber and micro fibre cloths, unger bucket, extension pole if needed and BOAB.

It was recommend to me by a fellow cleaner who's round I brought off him again a few years back, basically I'm wondering if by sticking with gg4 I'm missing out on something better or better still cheaper?

Normally I use a small amount anyway so it's no big deal but the other day wind knocked over my bucket with zero gg4 in the car (my fault) I asked a customer if I could use some of her washing liquid (fairy pomegranate I think) to clean her windows and her daughters as they were the last to be done that day.

Found there to be no difference once detailing was done, no streaks etc. So is gg4 worth the money or have I been scammed all these years? What do you guys use gg4, unger or bog standard washing up liquid to good effect? Need to buy more very soon.

Any advice?

I have been through them all and still advocate GG4. It is my ONLY choice when working trad.

I find anything else far too 'suddsy' detailing with GG4 I find so much faster and as long as you are using it in the recommended dilutions it should be cheaper than 'normal' dish soaps.

Welcome BTW

HG window cleaning liquid is great stuff, if you want to try another specialist soap. Otherwise, check out aldi magnum premium lemons soap, its my go to soap.

Thanks guys your a big help, I've got a bottle of gg4 saved on eBay for less than I normally pay along with ettore squeegee off as well in case I don't want to splash so much cash in one go. We use aldi magnum here at home for the dishes but pomegranate one as opposed to the lemon, worth a look tho.

Asda eco washing up liquid

Kiwi and lime

1l £1.25

Like a thicker ecover and is the best i have used

Although i don't trad much now and have bought some morrisons power burst for 87p

Like fairy platinum

With these soaps do you simply add them to the water along with something better like gg4 or squeegee off or are they stand alone decent for cleaning. I'm leaning toward trying a bottle of squeegee off, probably less concentrated than the gg4 but available in small bottles perfect for keeping in the car for when the wind blows a gale

Hoping i'm going to get on with the GG4....I've just ordered 3 bottles of the stuff as it's currently half price at Window Cleaning Warehouse.

eh i too have just ordered a couple of bottles of gg4 to give it a go.

what ratio of water to gg4 does everyone find works best?

i have been using it for the first time and for me it takes more gg4 in the water than they say on the bottle

That's interesting...just read the instructions and the mix should be 1:500 and never stronger than 1:250....that's a lot more diluted than the fairy liquid I usually use...something like a quarter of a capful per bucket.

for me 1; 250 seems good to use was wondering if anyone used it at the 1; 500 they say to use as it means im getting half washing liquid that it claims

That's a lot less than my few seconds squeeze of washing up liquid lol

Or big line of it on applicator for each house

I just give it a glug in the bucket, and away I go, the amount specified on the bottle doesn't work for me. Squeegee feels like it's gripping the glass if I follow the bottle.

mucking about eh i mean trying to find whats best way for me to use the gg4 i mixed it with small amount of e-cover but didnt like this so having been using a syringe yesterday using all these different ml adding ml taking away ml  started to feel like rocket science not window cleaning so today took the top off filled it 3 times with gg4 poured into my water and cleaned my front windows  jobs a good un and gleaming

:mad::mad::mad::mad: @norm :hey::hey:
If it were meant to be mixed with anything they would have done so in the lab!

I personally find 2 caps per 5L to be my favorite solution for trad.
i know  hard to kick the ecover habit

well yesterday was my first custys gg4 day and to cut to the chase i could hardly see :specs it on the windows and i struggled and came home /emoticons/sad.png thought i had it sorted  hmm 2 big bottles is a lot of windscreen wash

today i got my ecover out all was well again
