Thoughts on Razer red rubber

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Black Diamond Hard and Razer Red are a close run thing. BD has better slip but wears quicker at the ends in the Liquidator. Razer Red is bulletproof but doesn't has quite the slip. I'm currently using both. The guys having trouble with the Razer? Have you contacted where you bought it from? Is it just one batch or has it been stored badly in the suppliers store?

I see what people are saying brought a few lengths of razer red got one in the liquidator brill slip but small nicks in it only small ones it's like getting dog hair on the rubber not in pressed change it after two windows same again any one else have that with it

I never cut my rubbers to size by measuring it up against the channel. I always have a template rubber that I know is flush with the tips of the liquidator clips, then line that up blade side to blade side with the longer one. I then use a razor blade and lighlty press up against the the longer rubber blade side at the point where the template rubber finishes. I add a bit more weight to start the cut then one bang with a small hammer on top of the blade does it. Like hmans vid. [media]

the rubber kept leaving 5 or 6 really thin lines on glass 2-3 inches from end of squeegee. put in unger soft and no probs same window put razr back in same prob 5-6 lines took rubber out cut it down to fit my 12 inch channel works great makes me wonder about quality control prob maybe?

When Liquidator first came out I found a supplier of Blue rubber here in NZ. Thought, what the heck, splashed out about $120 and bought a swag of it. EVERY piece has the issue you're describing norm. I put it down to age and possibly rubber drying out. In short, old stock. As the Razer Red appears to have a silicone base though I doubt that would be the issue here. Sounds to me like a possible cutting issue at factory. I'd be doing a 'what are you going to do about it' to the supplier. For the record I bought my last lot off WCW early January 2015. So its possibly the first batch after that, assuming these issues are consistent with all purchasers. Also is this a pre cut 14" length or a length you cut yourself from a 36"... I've had the odd problem with a few of my 14" ones where the bulb size seems inconsistent and it 'sticks' when pulling it onto the channel. You end up with loose and tight spots along it's length and that certainly creates some 'interesting' patterns on the glass.

Funny you should say that Eric about the bulb side of the razr red. I was cutting some to size the other day and one was really jamming in the liquidator clip. I then put one which goes in easily up against it and the actual blade width between the two was probably a mm if that, but it was enough to make the difference. Yes I usually have the rubbers and the channel all soaped so they go in easily but this one was stubborn. When I cut my 14" rubbers to size for the liquidator I always cut it a little at each end instead of just one end.

I got my razr red from Blade right last year.
