Double yellows?

Hi peeps.

Quick one...

I've got some customers who are directly on main roads, currently I have to park a million miles away and bring out my trolley to do the customers house.

Do any of you park on double yellows to get outside a property?

I have no idea what the law on this is, but I see other wincleans doing all the time.

Cheers

Jason

Double yellows are instant ticket unless the are you are parking is posted different, for example my local church is surrounded by double yellows but is posted as no parking Mon-Sat so Sun you can park there no problem.

Never see anyone there on a Sunday though!

Brighton & Hove council provide a Window Cleaners Permit that allows us to park on single / double yellows whilst cleaning windows (as long as it's not a dropped curve)

Cost is minimal but suggest that you check with your local council to see if they offer the same.

Parking on double yellows doesn't bother me at all no traffic wardens were i work and the coppers never bat an eyelid across my work area but i do work away from areas close to town centre when on double yellows so guess i am lucky .

As an ex lorry driver i know the law

Single yellows have time restrictions on yellow signs nearby (on the lamp posts or street sign posts) which is an instant ticket if you are not within the allowed times

Double yellows with yellow lines painted on the actual kerb across it is an instant ticket

Normal double yellows by law the wardens have to allow 20 minutes before they can give you a ticket giving you a 20 minute window to get the job done

I'm sure @Markyboy 50 will back that up

not doubles but a few street round here have single yellows and i always park on em.

I used to be a delivery driver and we would stop on double yellows all day long, stick the hazards on and run in, not sure if you were allowed to or what but we seemed to get away with it

It's not illegal if under 20 minutes as that is the law

As long as no wheels on the pavement they can't touch you

The only way they can catch you out is technically it only counts for loading and unloading so if they realise what you're actually doing they could get funny

I suppose it depends on the individual warden and whether they got any last night

round here they've nearly got rid of wardens and use a van with a camera on top, drives past and if your parked on double yellows, in a bus stop or loading area instant ticket. my father in law had a great rapport with the traffic wardens where we work so we never got a ticket, since they've started with the van 3 tickets in 8 weeks! :gush:

As an Ex Police Officer, I'd like to say that @daveyboy is spot on.

I never park on double yellows. Being trad I just walk from the nearest legal parking space. On a mon when I do my shops in town I park in a proper space but it has 2 hour restriction on it. I've got a card in my window saying window cleaner workin. Seems to do the trick. Although one of my customers says I could get sued as it's a lie. He's never seen me working. Always walking around with a ladder. Never actually cleaning.

i sweet talk the traffic warnders in my area i park were i like lmfao there is only one that is a cuxxxxnt i once followed him bk to his depo in the aftoon ant sin him since:D
