help with cleaning technique please.

Hey guys

So thought I'd clean my own house yesterday. It is bloody filthy the frames the windows frames sit in are metal, painted white which are Flakey but the actual window frames are upvc.

Anyway mu technique was spray brush head with ubik, scrubbed whole frame, then concentrated on the top of the frame and window rubber, rinsed then allowed to dry, moved onto the next and done same thing.

Then back to first window and scrubbed glass only then rinsed. Being new and very cautious I did use about 10 litres in total on this double window. Way ott some would say.

Anyway the window almost looks worse than before. Loads of spotting and misty look.

Any thoughts guys?

The frames may be oxidised if metal and paint

Clean them again without touching the top frame at all and see what happens

Some windows don't like wfp

Not many but you may be unlucky

Yea possibly mate.

Like I said the actual window frames are pvc but they sit inside a metal frame which is galvanised steel been painted white.

That's a frosted window by the way just showing what I mean with metal and upvc

you have probably made it worse by using ubik 2000 on the frames.if the frames are as bad as you are saying.on some windows(metal,alloy,etc)no matter how much you wash and rinse they will look bad especially if the frames are poor!!!practice on friends and neighbours houses.by the way not knocking ubik,it use it myself

You think the ubik is making the paint run?

Suppose I'll wash me brush with some pure and try them again then.

Ubik won't make the paint run but will take the oxidisation off

Maybe that is what is running down the glass

Surely if it was oxidisation then after using about 4 litres to rinse a window it would be clean?

Also the windows never face the sun if that's hot anything to do with it.

I have windows that leave run marks after years of cleaning,ie brocken down seals,upvc that goes chalky white and runs like milk

I had some upvc frames like that..a good scrub with ubik sorted them as it scrubs all the oxidisation off

Just stick to the plastic and glass. No need to go as far as the metal parts.

Do you mean sorts it out for the next clean?

I suppose you wouldn't know until it dries anyway.

I did use ubik on the pvc
