What this called in the trade?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

its called a ballache ,I think its dirt that's on the rubber and when you clean it it stains the white pvc, especially when after cleaning ,it drys on the pvc. iv only seen these one first cleans unfortunately you only know once its been smeared .I use ubik 2000 and wipe off with a damp scrim ,don't let it dry on white pvc cos its even harder when dryed on to white

Ur treading into UPC restoring there

Old windows with the seals exposed as soon they are wet and u rub them with the scrim they bleed

Rub the frame not the part in beside the seal if u know wat I mean

But wen doing the PVC restore job it does eventually stop coming out

had house like that as you say the scrims would turn ot black as you say frames also

when i changed to WFP ,thought it was going to be proper twxt but coo coo came up great

It is where the rubbers start to break down on the surface with age

Using ibik or virosol can cause problems trad on these as it will draw all the muck off them over the frame and sill

If that happens they need a good scrub and wash with applicator to stop it bleeding and then clean as normal

Don't let it dry on the frames

I get the same issue with wfp with chems but the water flow gets rid of it so as not to be an issue

Had it once, a half hour job turned into a half day. A real nightmare. I let it to dry onto the frame and after I had to clean it with magic sponge. My new white brush was black also.

I have quite a lot of these runny black seals, can make a right mess, when I go back to clean next time, due to bleeding they leave streaks on windows, until you clean them again trad style, don't think they will be any good to use pure, as they will run, as they are doing that with rain. Just rubbish, old seals.

Thanks Guys, truth be told, I've been doing these windows for about a year and always had the bleed during wfp! I don't know if it's a no no but I just let them bleed and rinse away even if it does leave a light stain.

Ive got a few of these, total pain...I believe it's due to age, the gaskets have perished and they make a mess every time, all i can do is minimise the effect by quickly and carefully wiping the ink away...I took over from a previous WFP cleaner and the cills look like they are covered in black aerosol spray paint...I tell the home owners their gaskets have perished and the staining they will be getting...hopefully that might motivate them to get them changed.
