Summers coming and it's gonna get boring cleaning all day long.

Time to buy a new radio. I'm after one that is dab and fm. Sick of my phone going flat and good to have fm out here.

What do you use?

I have a little pocket radio (terrace trannys they were once called). Only about £15 in maplins. I also listen to my I pod, very handy. I learnt how to speak Turkish using this whilst working, and am now doing a Spanish course. Keeps the old brain matter going and take your mind off work for a while

Make sure you get one with a rechargable battery or a built in batter charger. This is the one that I have been using for the past 2/3 years. Excellent sound. 6 music all day!

I'm interested in getting a dab radio for work that has a built in speaker. (I don't want to wear headphones all day). I was told you have to have the aerial fully extended to get a signal, is this true? Is so, its no good for me as I keep my radio in my builders belt pocket.

It all depends where you are and the strength of the DAB signal. But generally, no, you dont need the aerial fully extended. I did have a small dab radio to keep in my pocket, but the aerial snapped. I gave up on the idea of carrying one round with me (in my pocket or on my belt). It seemed like too much hassle. I just carry mine around in a small ruck sack with all my cloths. Whatever you do make sure any radio you buy has a rechargeable battery or an in built battery charging unit. Just noticed that the radio I use now has a solar charged version....looks interesting:

A? You wear a rucksack at work?

So do you think that dab radio will work fine in the pocket of my builders belt without the Ariel up?

No...I dont wear a rucksack....just carry it round with me sometimes.

No...I think the aerial will have to be up to some degree....maybe only a few inches, but that can be a pain if it is attached to your belt or in your pocket etc

wonder of 80's ghetto blasters will come back in? Rastafarian briefcase type thing? You'd need to clean an extra house a day to cover batteries but could be a good way of getting noticed by potential customers.

Well I bought one of these

Batteries lasted 3 hours!

Lesson learnt.

Some don't get wifi outside & if you do in some areas that's not that strong. Especialy where I am.

Unless you know an app where you don't need wifi.
