Up until now I've not had any work on them. Not through choice but just how it panned out.

Anyway had some canvassing done recently and unfortunately over half of it was on a pretty rough council estate. I didn't realise when having the canvassING done as I didn't recognise the street names.

Anyway what an awfull experience, dogs everywhere, big ones that would do some serious damage. All I can here is swearing and motorbikes flying about lol. Most people think it's ok to skip cleans otlr not have it done. Some need to wait till payday to pay. There was a woman arguing in her front garden about her csa with a worker.

All in all its awfull. It's depressing and dangerous not to mention that getting my money us going to be an ordeal.

Going to clean it a couple of times and sell it on. Never again for me

I didn't realise I was a snob. Grew up around estates but it's different now much prefer working in nice parts of town.

What do you lot reckon to em?

I never ever clean houses on them mate. For the very reasons u have put. Anyone who has a washing machine in their front garden prob doesn't need a window cleaner

I like them generally as they are nice and easy, but there are a few streets I won't work down. I like the streets where the old folk are as they are always in, and usually down to earth folk.

I'd say 80% of my work is council estates, once you chin off the messers they're OK, usually quick and easy to do, just takes a bit of time to sort out the good from the bad.

i love working on them, and focus my effort the last 6yrs on them- the rewards come but it takes time

oh sure theres the messers thatll get you on the first trawl- but if you keep coming you will find the "gold loyalty person" who pay normally that reside there too. this takes time,to build trust, theyv to see you regular to know youre not another flash- ponse-boy chancing his arm

Plus if you got a few together that know each other they will sometimes pay for each other, did some today that only one was in but they payed for all 7 in the cul de sac, 40 quid over all!

7 Jobs for £40?? :eek::eek:
I'll pay you £45 per 7, you can start subbing tomorrow!
Mist council houses are 1 top and one bottom on front and back a back door and a door and 3 small downstairs windows on the side charge £1 a window, minimum £6 Swansea is not an affluent area, and 90% of window cleaners round here are cheaper then me!

Which estate is it adam? If you don't mind me asking?
In wakefield mate. One of the roughest. I'll let you guess

I must admit the canvasser did well for prices . All £12 semis with a couple at 14. That's good for any houses ulround here never mind council 3 beds. I would normally have been £8 -£10 on them. They are quick (or will be I'm doing 1st cleans) probably 10-15 per house

Tbh wen I started I made b line foe them. They're gd payers usually pay on day and always tip

People who don't have money know the value do it meaning they know how muchu need it

There is loads of hse houses being built and I drive around watching forthem opening. There is 3 pretty close to opening

Go in. Try take the whole area 50+ houses in one street. Couldn be bad toit

Take work wherever it comes

I got a few houses on a really rough estate, (7 houses) 10 pound each... Take no more than 5 min each if I work really quickly which I tend to do more often than not so I can get the hell out of there quickly as possible.

The seven customers i got are retired & house proud where the others living on that estate are either renting privately or most likely through the council, empty beers cans and nappies all over the front garden, tesco trolleys hanging about everywhere, smash windows, broken fences, cars vandalized, dog sh*t everywhere... It really grim, it would depress the hell out of me if I had to live there.

I go there first thing in the morning so I can leave before most chavs wake up to watch jeremy kyle show.

haha, i had that feeling today, as soon as i had left the estate i felt a great relief. My van hadnt been attacked, not bitten by a dog and managed to not upset the local windys who i had seen working.

I have a bout 20 houses to first clean, i wouldnt expect to keep more than 10 regular mind once ive gone through the messers. Ill probably sell them on in a few months unless they turn out to be better than expected. It has nothing to do with how easy they are or how much they can earn i just didnt like working there. I wen tto one this morning, was knocking on door when guy cam walking up street. "are you going in back garden pal", erm yeh do you live here? i replied. no, next door but i better put the dog in, its a big alsation and it can jump over the fence. fantastic i said.

Later on at another house guy put his dog in back, but it got out and was going mental. luckily he grabbed hold of it before it got to me. great big akita. turned out a nice guy but we was talking about his dog, oh yeh its bit me a few times he says. lovely round here i thought. i absoloutely hate dogs of any description but these things they seem to all have em. 2 rottweilers it another back garden.

Yeah my customer neighbour got a pit bull, i might be wrong but it look like a pit bull. Just as well my customer got high fences and I am totally deaf cos I know barking at me every time i go round there.

I grew up in west and north west london council estates

Glad I'm away from all that now but it doesn't bother me working in them

I used to have quite a few jobs on south kilburn estate (google it and see how many stabbings there are there nowadays lol)

I suppose it's what you know and i came from the hood lol

But those who graft for a pittance do understand that we need paying promptly whereas well off folk don't give a toss

How many affluent customers tip you at Christmas compared to how many normal working class people

Couldn't agree more !!! The people who have the money couldn't give a **** if they pay you on time or not. Could guarantee the people who are worse off than most always have it

I just managed to get the 50 quid 1 rich customer has owed me since i cleaned them on the 4th

She asked "how much is that again?"

"£60 love"

"Ok it's paid now. .sorry about that"

Woo hoo just got a tenner a month pay rise

And i was gonna bin her lol
