Hiya everyone - Trad Cleaners here...

Had a pretty mild first winter not too many problems, cheers for tips btw made it that much easier and was well prepared

Have some concerns about the nice weather even tho loving the window cleaning in the sun!! #TanLines lol

Have been considering wearing sunglasses but I don't think this is going to work as I'm unsure about seeing the detailing of the glass etc but haven't tried it, what does everyone else do obviously don't look at the suns reflection directly but are we damaging our eyes at all ??

advice appreciated

Thanks

I was wondering about sunglasses yesterday. I normally wear Ray-bans but don't want to **** them up while I'm working.

I usually wear bloc, but recently bought a few more around the £10 cause they're going to go missing.

What about those clip over shades di?

can u see the glass as well? our first bout of hot sun on dry glass, working out how not to leave streaks as water/soap drying quickly onto glass, saw a WFP window cleaner on a house same day as us finishing looked mint whereas us tradding have to be careful on detail with sun blaring on glass, got round to back where no sun and took half the time!!

lot to learn ....

Tried all sorts over the years, I just accept the fact I will be blinded these days lol.

Will probably get some prescription sun glasses this year though.

I wear glasses so just have to put up with it and squint.....
my son wears glasses, was looking into the ones that apparently change to shades in the sun....im just concerned whether or not it could damage our eyes?

Not sure what the change ones are like these days, but I had some about 10 years or so ago and they were to slow to help really, would be back in the car before they went dark lol

thank you, will have too look into this

best just trying it out this week then if the sun is here to stay that is! weather is all over the place this week it looks like

I find you can usually angle your head in such a way that a neighbours house/roof/random item shades your eyes while working, not always but most of the time.

The problem you are having is your applicators are not wet enough, on hot glass you want them dripping and then blade off within seconds. Streaking is as you suspect from the water drying to fast.

I hit TK MAX and grab 3 or 4 pairs of Bolc, Fila etc, cheaper wrap round sports glasses but always go for polarized as this does really help reduce glare and will help you see mistakes more easily. But as I say first and foremost the applicator needs to be dripping.

Come summer for trad I break out the Ettore Golden Glove applicators as they hold massive amounts of water.

just had a look at these, definitely due a new applicator now I reckon so have ordered and will be delivered Tuesday, did some experimenting Thursday when sun was blazing and definitely saw the difference soaking the glass, did one pane at a time. had an inside windows job and on one of windows there were a streak where sun was hitting so had to go and do that one again, rob was same on tops had to go back and re-do, thankfully was first job so took more time on others, soaking etc

Definitely more water

The golden glove i haven't used but i use the moerman applicator which holds loads

Don't scrimp on soap while it's hot..you may think more water less soap is the way to go but to squeegee properly without the blade sticking and causing missed spots you need to have the same soapy mix as normal but don't squeeze so much out of the applicator before you use it

When it's sunny i tend to dunk and shake instead

I am 99.999% WFP

I use these

Vario Sunglasses - FOX Clothing

There are two types of glasses. Ones where you can change lenses and ones where you can't.

I went for fishing glasses as you can be getting glare from the water when casting line. Used them for 5 years and I love using them.

Becarful on cheap "polarised" glasses. They may not be a 100% blocking UV Ray's as discovered in a report. Fox glasses passed with flying colours
