My canvassing blog!

Not so much meridion, usually 6pm and 9pm or Saturday /Sunday evenings worked best for me.

I actually posted again yesterday for first time (was banned), 6pm posting got me nothing but 8pm posting got few page likes and an 8 pound regular job.

It's hit and miss though mate.

So I'm out in my local town cleaning today, probably the worst day for me as the work is pretty varied and today had too many first cleans.

Anyway! Canvassing.. I got a fb pm for this very town a few weeks ago. Windy that done a few streets here had broke his wrist in December and hasn't been back. So today I got a mate to leaflet drop 40 odd houses around the house I was doing.

Half an hour later a call came from the same Street, they had same windy, same issue! Went up tonight to quote, now have the caller and her direct neighbour at 8 pound each. That area is getting severely door chapped this weekend!

Windy in question seemingly done a fair few houses in this area and so we'll see how weekend canvassing goes. He priced these two houses at 6, so feel good that I've still got them onboard.

I'd dropped a quote into another house in the local town two weeks ago, never heard back but chapped her again today. Seemed happy as pie with the price, why they don't call to say YES I don't know. She's 7.50. Previous windy didn't do a particular window on her house, think it was just out of reach of 15 foot ladders maybe.

Facebook ban lifted! Have got a ten pound house from this last night, had no other work in that town but it's on my way to an area of work (9 houses), so that's fine for now.

Facebook also got me an 8 pound house in my local town, this was yesterday (see above messages) . Bungalow, sorted! And I've got an interesting fb message from a village resident, seems they have no windy there and so a few of them are wanting a windy. She's checking what time/day suits them all, for a quote.

Total 4 weekly increase from this week alone is very close to 100, and I'll push that further with a weekend's canvassing.

Just some shop fronts to clean tomorrow, really like doing this on Saturday as it makes me kinda locally visible with my embroidered gear on. Hopefully that'll help get more punters.

Look back at my thread mate,I copied on to this thread the exact pitch I put on all buy and sell sites.

Another fb one this evening, been out to quote and accepted. Led to two neighbours also. 7/8/10 all four weekly. No other work in village but it's on route to some work.

Car now sold to Arnold Clark,so need that van asap.

Think it's 6 and half a dozen meridion, posted on four pages at 8pm..got no likes, nothing.

I'd previously went too hard at the buy and sell sites, now posting in more of a sequence ie,selling pages A,B,C,D,E,F,G on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Posting on pages H,I,J,K,L,M,N on Tuesday, Thursday, saturday.

So went out canvassing that broken wrist window-cleaners area! Picked up maybe five on that Street, all at 7 except one at 8.

Initially quoted the street at 8 but lost two otherwise guaranteed customers due to price, so lowered by a pound (he done houses here at 4 quid)

Two of above new customers were his, and so theres a risk they'll return to much cheapness when he's back (if he's back). Others had no cleaner, and think I've 8 on that Street now overall.

Canvassed streets around that one, picked up two more also. Funny how 8 quid to someone seems a bargain, yet an identical house next door thinks it's ridiculous! Guess their expectations are set by past windy prices also.

To which my new quote is, cheap always costs more!. And I'll fire into a speal about being insured for damages, unlike guys doing it dirt cheap.

Another area in this town had two houses, after today it now has about 8. There are at least one customer there I reckon will be a bad payer though, could have quoted him 50 quid and reckon he'd still have smiled and said aye!

I'm going back out in ten to try tighten up three sole houses in same town, but I'm quickly finding out about the amount of windys here. It's saturated! But what they don't do is chap their area,so they have a house here, a house there etc.

This weeks increase for every four weeks is the highest so far, and so adding to earlier canvassing this week and fb work I'm genuinely nearing 200 plus. There is nothing under 6.50 but if I didn't have some under priced houses from the beginning I'd hit their neighbours for more. Confidence in pricing is growing.

Save that higher pricing for all the new areas I'm stepping into maybe.

Spent as long up the top end of this town (this evening) as I did down that bottom end canvassed earlier today! One 8 pound house is all I've to show, compacted more but expended a few more to be honest.

Couple on quotes, but price is sometimes an issue I reckon. Better no house than a 4 quid one.

Adding up my 4 weekly profiles there, I'm a few quid shy of 1200 every 4 weeks. Two of these weeks are still very light and they'll be the canvassing weeks I guess.

Due to start work in new social care job, two weeks time. I'm thinking if I can get this window cleaning upto near 1400 (my bills each month are half that figure) , then I'll just plough right on!

Does this seem risky? I'm going by my recent canvassing efforts, and personally feel there will be no time to expand the business with a full-time job plus windows.

Chriss, is there anyone (a friend) who can clean the windows for you and take 50 - 75% of the money for a couple months (to keep the customers) while you canvass more till £1500 I'd say, and give you time to get a van/ equipment if you wish. And then you leave your job and go solo on Windows. and then have more time to canvass.

Probably got about 150 customers, they are not all 6/7 pound houses Andy. But yeah it's going to be a struggle. Reckon I have a grand as a buffer, outwith next two months bill money and then obviously what I'm making on window's.

Meridion, sadly no bud. I've got what equipment I need for now, 15 and 30 foot ladders, backpack, 30 foot pole etc. Due to go down buy this van tomorrow or Wednesday after corsa cash clears.

I have someone helping me just now though.

Am not meaning to come off like this or that,I'm aware these prices ain't ideal. I'm upping them as I go though, sometime failing on price alone now, sometime not..but it's getting there. Originally I was happy with a fiver for 6 window houses, now am aiming for 8 on these houses etc..

Just so happens my area is Saturated with cheap and cheerful cleaners,3 pound at lowest and 5 at best!

Hi Jamie, maybe 5 weeks buddy. Basically just came full circle of my 4 weeks work, but had canvassed just before that. Went out chapping tonight again, got an 8 pound house, and a few 7 pound ones. Later an 8 pound fb one. All approx 6 window houses though. Think I'm near 1250 now.

Just short of two weeks to get to 1400 4 weekly, and if I do I'll just keep at this on its own.

I enjoy canvassing aye. Where to start on a thing like that though?

Leaflet drop daytime,6 to 8 pm max evening chapping. Weekend anytime mate, Sunday works for me too

132 4 weekly increase from last night until right now, mainly canvassing and had a few fb ones.

Have a pocket of 6 houses out of this above figure, all 7.50/8 pound ones. The rest are on a string of roads maybe a mile long in total, but more scope for what's between them (when people are in). No more than six windows on the 7.50 ones.

Dropped a lot of leaflets there just now and had one call back, so I'll chap this area tonight (50 odd houses in cul-de-sac area), all dirty windows.
