Starting Out

Thanks for all your replies guys!

Taxloss - That's something I was thinking of adding on as well, it fits in nicely with the window cleaning and I already have the pole and ladder. Do you have a link for those attachments?

Paddy - Thanks for that info, I will have a look into that site.

Peter - I'm not sure how to send a PM, if you send me one I'll reply with my no. thanks.

Well window cleaning helped me out of a tight spot: I was working in a dead-end factory for minimum wage and wasn't too happy about the situation.

Good luck with your plans...you might find cleaning windows evenings and weekends problematic though...once the daylight hours shorten again you won't be able to clean after late afternoon and I'm not sure if domestics are keen on being cleaned at weekends...you would probably be better off setting aside one full day for cleaning and build it up to the point you can give up the office work...I'd be inclined to hit the windows hard and pick up some evening bar/security/shelf filling work.

Thanks Danfire. Yeah that's going to be a problem later on, I'm trying to do them all on Saturdays and Sundays and see how it works out. It's definitely going to be a problem if there' s a bad spell of weather and I can't rely on the evenings to reschedule. However the office job has various flexible options if I need to take them e.g. reduce to 4 or 3 day week. So I'm fairly lucky in having that option if needed.

Anyway got 3 cleaning jobs today so it's slowly starting to take off. /emoticons/smile.png I found a council estate that doesn't seem to have any regular windy.

I'm still having problems with the squeegee it's leaving a trail of water on the edges, also the cloths don't seem to be much good for detailing they just leave a smudge on the window. I'm going to order the Wilkes ones recommended here and an Unger squeegee and brass clips to see if that sorts it out.
