Cheap window cleaning!

Just asked a windy on the job what he charged for front only on terrace house two up one down and a door he said £2:75. I still can't get my head around that sort of pricing. I Do similar for £6:50 - £10:00 depending on postcode. I'm amazed why anyone would work for that. Not having a pop at him just genuinely surprised.

Whats the cheapest you have heard of?

Wow. I wouldn't work for that kind of money. Bet he does glass only too and not frame and sills.

I have a minimum of £10 now and don't deviate from it...

I have a tenner minimum too

Although i do have a handfull of jobs where i can't justify it so charge less like the 2 bed terrace i do with 4 windows total and no glass in the door

2.75 for that is a **** take though and makes other windies in the area struggle to compete

I have a front i do with 1 up 1 down and 1 tiny strip of glass in the door which i charge a fiver for but i am next door for a 12 quid job anyway

That would fetch between 3/4 £ over here, I would go as far to say any area here, possibly cheaper in estates

I don't take long to do a conny roof but i have lots of experience trad and wfp at doing them

An average conny roof with finials etc takes about an hour

That guy however is taking the p##s

How do they actually make a living out of it

I looked a carehome last year that was being cleaned by 2 window cleaners trad and was taking them nearly a day.They were charging £100!!

It amazes me how low some people will go to get work some of them would earn more working for a company.

Average conny roof takes around 2/3 hours down to gutters in my experience, thats doing it properly, paying attention to frame finishers and small details.

I always insist on using a external tap now with a trigger spray gun to ensure a proper clean out of all seals and finials.

I like to call it a valet rather than a clean as its quite a intense job to do perfectly.

Had a bad one today that had very old lichen all over the plastics, the only one ive seen with lots of that on, very tricky to remove and some just would not come off, set on like concrete, only way I can see it coming off was a hard scourer but a conny ladder required.

Or believe it or not domestos bleach spray

To be fair it does contain hypo anyway lol

When I look at the precautions I get worried.

What about your health during application?

What about all the grass, flowers and plants down-wind of the spray? What about pets, bees and children that visit the area after you have finished? What about any fish in nearby fish ponds?
