My canvassing blog!

Awsome stuff mate. At the rate your going you won't need that job if you've canvassed 1300 in 5 weeks you can get another few hundred before then.

Knackered lads, but really don't want to do anything but this. Am sure I can get to 1500 by week and a half, going to try anyway.

Met some lads today who want to help canvas for me, their big brother works for one of these 3.50 window cleaning firms though. So that won't be happening, too risky in passing over customers.

Cheers @peter rogers and thats "Mr" @Greener LOL /emoticons/wink.png yes last year (My first year in business) I offered all new customers an HALF PRICE 3rd clean, My theory was that if I could get them interested by enticing them with the half price clean then by the time the 3rd clean came the customer would have had an opportunity to:
(A) See the benefits in having their property cleaned regularly, correctly and professionally.

(B) See that I actually ALWAYS do what I said I would do from the start.

© Get to know me and give me an opportunity to build rapport.

(D) Establish whether or not they could actually afford a regular service

(E) Give me the opportunity to get a feel for the customer i.e Good or Messer

All of which I consider to be Very important when taking on new customers but none more important than the other.

When I first started door knocking I picked up a small number of customers, however I soon came to the conclusion that for me personally door knocking and leafleting offered very little return compared to the time and effort that I put in and to be honest I found it soul destroying. So I sat down one night and created a BUSINESS Fbook page Facebook (and NO this isn't an attempt to gain more Likes :coffee:) @Gav more than happy for you to remove if not allowed . I for one know that the majority of people I know spend a lot of time on FB looking at the and commenting on the local community groups and that people are always looking for and recommending various trades and the best bit is thats its FREE-FREE-FREE :party:. So instead of pounding the streets knocking on doors in all weathers getting more and more disheartened I made the conscious decision that I would use the power of the web it market my business i.e website, Fbook and a few cheap adverts on local community websites. Each new customer I gained I would ask to like and share my page and from that I can honestly say approx 90% of my customers are quoted and won. For those that may think this is the Lazy/Easier and less time consuming way I can assure you that if successful it is anything but.

All the very best for the future, stick at it reap the hard earned rewards from your all your hard work. @Greener
what did you Say to customers when asking them for a review Greener?

You'd just ask them to leave a review lol! And if they are a fb customer and forget, pm them and kindly remind them innit!

Great!! Thanks Greener!!

So not wrote for a bit, been pretty busy.

Got some commercial work now, had four or five shop fronts in my home town which are good for a quick hour on saturday. Now got a small care home at 40, and a driving range at 60, and a gym which was actually my first ever cleaning job at 15 quid (defo was winging it there!) . These are all 4 weekly, gym is 2 weekly..

And also a small office at 25, which is monthly I think.

Bellaway homes called me re a new build site clean, so hopefully make that 76 house area my patch..as it develops. Think I'm doing an initial clean of all houses then a second one as people move in! Shouldn't be too time consuming as it's pretty staged.

Got to that 1500 target, and then some. Probs about 1600 plus in work I can do with 15 footers or basis pole length, and 1800 plus with work I'm due to do with 24 foot ladders (ordered).

Had 30 foot ladders but they were 30kg, 3 parters and 14 rungs each. Pretty hard to use alone.

sounds like youre flying chris, more work than i have and ive been going 18 month, mind you im a bit picky and probably have more ex custies than current ones lol

Peter do you use them alone? Braver than me lol.

I actually had my 30 foot ones come crashing on my head while taking them down, Haha. Amateur errors!

Cheers Adam, trying to chap a lot more focused now. Kinda creating little pockets of work in a few towns to save time.

I've a few customers who like inside and outside cleans, one in particular who goes off surveying every window after I'm done!

Today I'm doing cash collections and gona chap two villages where there's only one house in one, and two in another.

Got four or five from a little village tonight, read cliquey village! 'we have all got a window cleaner here' shouts Nora batty from the window.

Again I'm told, the majority will have the same window cleaner bla bla bla..it's the minority I'm interested in!! Possibly one or two bad eggs from these new ones but few genuine ones. This ties well with perhaps ten already in area, didn't have time to go to original village mentioned in last post that's got less work, so on a cash collection elsewhere I just chapped away.

Also now doing my old social care boss' house,so no hard feelings there clearly!

Picked up a 2 Facebook ones this last 24 hours, but that's drying up. Seemed good for a while but less responses after u exhaust these buy and sell sites after e while. Plus,it'll only stretch the work too wide I'm thinking.

So..posting fliers in more local shops today and carding in areas I'm working in.

Also ordered more scrims cos only had about 5, ettore pro grip is my newest tool and love the weight of it.

Still scared of the waterfed pole set up, but guess I'll adjust with time!

I've one guy who I'm still chasing after two cycles now, but it's been more just missing him in.

Couple of payer's who are wanting set days/times cash pick up which is a pain in the ar/se.

Had one complaint I forgot to wipe sills down and one complaint about a kitchen window I'd not hit with the magic sponge enough. That'd pretty much it, but I've still about 25 percent plus of my rounds first cleans to do mate

all part of the process mate, i tend to dump and sort em out as i go along rather than let bad custies pile up. strictly no cash collections.

So go cardless or accepting PayPal payments? I'm getting sick of collecting already. Especially when rounds in various towns!

I got all my last 4 weekly cycle collected bar maybe 5, and I'll catch them within the week. Bit of a pain though.

Cheers pal, well today has been a case of win some and lose some!

Previously mentioned windy with broken arm is back! Ive lost at least 5 I'd say, I'll need chap his wooden house area (where they wanted me to do cleans in his absence) and see if they are sticking with him.. One pmd me last night to state they were going back to him, will need suss rest out.

But yesterday while doing a facia clean in different part of town I was approached by some of his customers.. Guys been gone for 5 months and ain't maintained round at all see, few unhappy faces here.

So anyway last night i found out he's back. Today I chapped all six of these new houses and told them I can clean now or they wait for him,as he's back doing the round as far as I know. Everyone of them stuck with me, and I got another in that Street today too. Nice and compact!

I've actually contacted this guy via fb previously to see if he was coming back, felt it was the right thing to do. He wasn't very forthcoming.

Now away to chap the other two small streets that link to this one, as it's just started bucketing down in central Scotland!

Loads of first cleans at moment, tiring!
