Is anyone on a water meter?

anyone on a water meter on here and do there own water? what does the quarterly bill come In at?

I do my water at familys home at moment but not ideal, having an extension and garage soon so could do my own but worried about water bill cost don't mind abit but if its massive then don't wanna do it

anyone offer advice, bill costs etc?

I'm on a meter, use DI only. Bill is about £600 a year.

Whats your tds? if its high it will likely cost a fortune to run an R.O

We aren't on a water meter but can help you get an idea.

We use just over 300 m3 of water a year through the r/o. Our r/o is set at about 1 waste to 1 pure. (We use about 12500 liters of pure a month. That is 2 of us working together.) We do have a water meter on the r/o system so we know how much water we use a year. I use the meter to monitor prefilter replacement.

You need to work out how much pure you use a month and then add the amount of water your r/o sends to waste by measuring both over the same period. (If you have a 3 to 1 ratio of waste to pure and you use 6000 liters of pure water a month, you will use 24,000 liters to achieve that.)

Now go to your current water bill and insert your extra water usage a month. This will give you an idea of the extra you may have to pay. You should be able to negotiate a sewage refund from your water provider.

Glad you mentioned the water meter Spruce. Have you a link to the one you have?

It looks similar to this but with 1/2" fittings.

I haven't got an exact link as one of the suppliers past it on to me after evaluation. They decided not import them.

The one I have counts backwards. When I change prefilters I set the counter to 79000 litres and when it reaches 0000 an alarm bleeps so I know the Fiberdyne filter needs changing.

Anyone who is on a meter will need a separate meter on the r/o so they know how much water to charge the business. The water board will also want a monthly reading to refund any sewage.

I would imagine something like this would suffice

I'm on a water meter and make my own water and have a tds reading of over 400 with only a 300 gpd ro system and have just received my first water bill since I started window cleaning in February and although I was dreading the bill it was only a bit more expensive than usual which I didn't expect.

about 110 and currently 950gpd ro di from pure freedom

Swings and roundabouts, you'll save on water but pay more out on resin if you use DI only. My tap TDS at the minute is 051 /emoticons/smile.png

Are there any laws on where I get my water from. Can I take water from a domestic supply (my house) or does it need to be from my reg business address?

I'm on one but can use next doors tap off his garage which is not on a meter, I use a bit of both tbf, its just a small cost against your business, nout to worry about as its not like we have that many huge costs compared to other service businesses.
