My canvassing blog!

Three more new custys in the next Street, just about managed to peel my fliers apart when handing them out there.

****/ing down!

One is an x customer of broken arm dude, who is impatient at waiting for his imminent return. Two fresh ones, ground floor flats. Nice!

Still ****/ing down!!..

Thanks Den I'm pretty tired now, I'll need to take a full day off soon. For the last 3 weeks I've been at it everyday or canvassing for hours, need a non window cleaning day.

The first cleans are so time consuming, very dirty facia and windows are delaying me lots. Noticing on second clean I'm twice as fast though, and then a bit faster again on third cleans..need to keep reminding myself of this actually. Stay positive!

Take my hat of to you, I'm in the process of building my round to, but no where near as fast as you. Fair play man!

So added up profile weeks 1 to 4, and this totals at 2105 pounds so far. Think I'll lose a few as was stated above, but times getting spend focusing on compacting all areas of work now anyway.

No more random houses that link between current towns etc, only interested in ones that are in current streets.

Taking today off and half of tomorrow too, pretty shattered! This weeks work is going to be well behind, but next week is lighter so should be ok.

Made a wee list up there,if you go to rightmoves website you can do a localised sold property search based on specific towns or street. This is handy as it has address, and more importantly the date of sale.

I've now got about 60 houses listed down on paper that were sold within the last two months in areas I work, and will chap them all when got time.

Reckon would get a few new customers from this.

That's a great idea mate. I've been on here for years hearing all sorts of suggestions for targeted advertising but that's the best I have heard yet.

Reckon there's likely fifty percent without a window cleaner from this idea, some will and some won't.

But for those moving into new areas or where previous windys round was full, they are potentials!

Damn. Cats out of the bag.

I had this idea a month or so ago and made a thread but never got round to trying it out but it should work.

Wanted to keep it quiet as any windy that figures it out in your area can get to them first.

I'll have to act quick now lol

Go onto right move and see list of properties sold in you are a on the last 6 months

Right after tea I'm going to chap some of those recently sold houses I'd made the list of chaps.

Today I lost a customer, yesterday I lost a customer! Three in total gone over a two month period. One couldn't afford, one moving away and one back using her old windy (who she had prior to moving house)

This makes me a bit para I'm doing a cak job tbh,but I'm taking my time on houses and the fb reviews are all positive, so hopefully all is well.

So today while doing my home town I'm chapping doors as I go, as said previously the focus is on compacting this round now.

So where I had two streets with one house in each,I've now got three in each of those streets after today.

Just out of curiosity do you find Sunday's better than Saturday's? I've found Sunday's to be a bit invasive as some people have there dinner at 12 some later, no ones up early, then you run the risk of ringing the doorbell at 6:30 pm to a ****** of parent who has just put the kids to bed, Saturday feels better all round imo

be interesting to see the results of the targetted chapping. might even get me of my **** to do some knocking if results are good, i expect they will be.

Dont worry about losing custies when building up, i have more ex customers than current ones for all sorts of reasons

Cheers Adam, just a bit pants when you lose first one or two..Yeah its all part of the equation I guess though.

Well I'm not sure Ads, think it depends more on our mentality on that particular day. If am f/kd from a long hard days work and then chap doors, I ain't so game at their door but if I was just straight canvassing that day I'd see better results regardless of day of week (i think)

So lost another new customer back to broken arm/wrist guy! One is however staying with me, and I await the neighbours call to see what she's doing.

Elsewhere today.. About 8 first cleans on terribly maintained windows, but chapped the street in between houses. A lot of them had some guys doing it for like 2.80 (my lowest known price for a full house, anyone heard of lower?) but obviously at that price they were banging them out,no sills,no facia, marks on window's,swearing in street etc etc..

So,got five more in this small Street today, all 7 pound and all basically a pound a window. But lost one more in this patch here as she's going for the cheap guys. Good luck hen! We may see her again.

A Fb customer pmd to say her neighbour wants windows doing too, so nice and compact there. I'm offering them all half price first cleans for one customer referral (and I mention this from the start via any fb messages etc,it's got me a few bits of work), or the first clean is totally free for more than 2 referrals (that become paying customers)..

Another messaged me to say there's like 4/5 houses in her high Street block that want doing, i'd not got round to hers yet due to three level up ladder school boy error issues. New 24 footers should be good to go here.

Not done that focused door chapping of sold houses yet as had some family stuff happening, but will post results. Was going to type a personalised letter to each after some advice from a wcf member but I ain't the patience for that so door chap I shall.

Picked up three on three separate streets today, had one in each of these street initially and continued chapping doors as I cleaned.

This compact plan of of door chapping has slowed me down somewhat though, last week's work won't be finished until at least tomorrow (first time going three levels up tomorrow actually)

Then some commercial and maybe 30/40 houses for rest of week. This is my lighter week.

So I've decided to drop a few out of town jobs, and will basically drop anything that's not cost effective or simply a pain.

On this week one cycle alone I've probably dropped five awkward houses, but picked up at least ten to fifteen in the same town for the next week 1 cycle (mostly next door to current work, or there abouts) . Easy houses basically.

There is plenty work available up here, and so will now be upping all new prices at least a quid or two unless they are right next to current work. All third level flats will now be 8 quid plus, probably closer to ten instead of 7.50. Stuff that.

Getting onto week 2 now (should have started on Monday!) , and I'll chap as I go again lads. And delete and add to the week as I go, until this round is the way I want it.

Nah, stick to trad while you build a solid round, plenty of time to make the switch. Build some skills, get some money, get used to working off ladders, get all the houses cleaned by trad and then if/when you make the switch you're not trying to brush off years of dirt wasting tonnes of water. Nice smooth transition, and when you get asked to do insides, you'll have enough skills to do a quick clean job and not look a biff while doing it.

Yeah agreed mate,I've had three or four inside and outside jobs now and they were awkward to start with. Building confidence there now.

I'm only now getting to the stage of squeegeing properly if still quite basic, and infact astound myself when it occasionally needs very minimal detailing! Was previously blading with a side to side motion and scrimping the lines lol.

I figure Trad is invaluable to learn well anyway, say my wfp system is not working one day at least I can rely on these Trad skills I'm building right now.

Ladder work is a funny thing. Last time out I cycle week 1 I had some windows I left and explained to the customer why, this run out I wonder what all the fuss was about!

Cheers meridion, I do have the backpack but eventually will get a van set up yeah. Backpack was handy for a facia clean this morning, and I had put myself off it initially by using it at full 30 foot reach on three level up flats.

Probably in autumn is when I'll target for a wfp van system anyway. Gives me time to do 90 percent plus of the ever changing round at least four or five times Trad i'd think.
