Hi guys.

I've not been on in the last few days and probably won't be on much for a while.

I had a phone call on Sunday afternoon to say that my dad was in a motorbike accident in Northern Spain and was in intensive care in a Spanish hospital.

My dad is an extremely experienced rider and at the moment no one knows how or why he came off his bike. Witnesses said that instead of taking a turn in the road, he kept going straight and ended up being thrown from his bike and ended up in a ditch with the bike on top of him. He was airlifted to hospital and has been in a coma since Sunday.

I got the first flight I could get on Monday morning. I had to fly to Madrid and then get two trains to northern Spain.

The whole thing has been an absolute nightmare and we're not sure how he will be if/when he comes round.

Thankfully, the majority of his visible injuries aren't too serious. He has broken his left arm and wrist in multiple places, he has damage to one of his lungs and some cuts and bruises. The biggest concern is an injury to his brain as well as numerous blood clots on the brain.

I will be returning to the uk briefly on Saturday and then shall we back in Spain next week.

I know there's some bikers on here so please be careful guys.

Neil i haven't bothered to check in with you since monday as i know you are under pressure mate

Keep me up to date by message mate so i know how you are

I didn't say anything on here to anyone as i thought that was up to you if you wanted to

If you have any jobs that urgently need doing (although i feel if people can't wait under the circumstances then **** em) or if Michelle needs anything give me a shout and I'll help if i can

My thoughts are with you mate

Thanks mate. I've been meaning to contact you with an update although there's so many people I need to speak to it gets hard to remember who I've spoken to.

Cheers for the offer of helping with my work. Over the next couple of days I'll contact some of my customers and update my Facebook business page to let people know that I'm delayed this month.

I'm currently sat in a bar next to my hotel as I'm fed up of staring at the hotel room walls.

I can go and visit my dad at 5pm but visiting is very strict and I don't get much time there. At 1pm I can go each day and see him through a window.

Safe to say it's an absolute nightmare mate. I really appreciate the offers of help.

At least you have a lot of your wifes family close like Ricki and Lee etc if she needs help with anything

Seriously though mate don't even think about work. .anyone who can't wait under the circumstances isn't worth the bother but I'm about if you need me

Cheers. I was due to go to Center Parcs with the wife and kids this week but they've gone with my mother in law so at least I know they're in safe hands until I'm back at the weekend.

We've had a lot of help over here. My dad is well connected due to his work with the MET and the home office and one of his friends and ex colleagues has been pulling a lot of strings from the uk. I've had contact and help from the British embassy, the Spanish police, the Spanish military police and the Spanish intelligence agency or whatever they call themselves. It's a bit surreal at times but definitely helpful. My mum is holding up well under the circumstances. I think she's on autopilot to be honest.

I gotta go as I'm still working (doing some of tomorrow's work)

Give me a shout on messenger later if you want (phone and text might cost a bit)

Did he learn to ride in the police?

He should be a very good rider if he did

Yeah, he learnt to ride with the police. He spent years as a traffic cop before going other things. He's been riding for at least thirty years.

The Spanish doctors thought at first that he'd had a heart attack but they've ruled that out and they don't think it's a stroke. It's very weird.

Sorry to hear that mate. Fingers crossed for you and your dad.

If you need any work doing on your round just let me and Dave know and we can see what we can do.

Thanks everyone and thanks for the offers of help with my round.

I'll be back in the uk at the weekend and am planning on doing some work on Monday and Tuesday to keep a bit of money coming in for the wife. She's supposed to be on maternity leave at the moment although she has been doing a bit of work here and there.

If you're back early next week mate give me a shout as I'm not too busy that i can't come help/hinder delete as appropriate for a couple of hours
