failing in canvesing and leaflets help

If that's your experience, then that's great.
Personally if someone in shorts came to my door Canvassing, I would say "you already have the shorts so why don't you jog on"
bit weird that mate, its summer time.

I hardly have my shorts off from may till september, i wear them in the house and i wear them to work, i sure wouldnt put on a pair of jeans/trousers to go walking round for miles when its hot sweating like a pig.

Work type shorts and a polo top looks pretty smart to me.

You can look smart without looking over the top. Logod top looking presentable is more than enough, trackies and and a vest is fine if your canvassing on council estates, dress according to your target market.

I put all my leaflets in blank envelops , this way I no it will get read...in England we get so many leaders drop in our doors that the majority just get scooped up and binned without being read, this way I no it with get looked at.I like the sticker idea

would cost a fortune in envelopes though, lus all the time taken to put them in, if your doing 500 a day thats a lot of extra money and effort surely

I'm in shorts most of the time and it's true if it's a bit more personal it does stand out abit and stickers and things do that anyway I'm off it's hotter than a oven hear so I got some posting to do

Buy small evelopes from poundland, I think you get a few 100 in a pack .

There is not much effort in stuffing envelopes while watching the tv and I found the extra effort payed off for me

Fair enough. To date I have never had a single salesman come to my door in shorts.

When you knock the door canvassing you don't want to be seen as a salesman

You are a window cleaner offering your services while you are in the area

I find it's best to look like you are working and taking advantage of a few minutes to knock some doors or just finished and knocking some doors before you go home

My best days canvassing i have been wearing shorts with trad belt on with boab etc and some leaflets in one of the pouches

always remember yrs ago at my parents i was sitting alone brooding in a back room while in the lounge a pushy salesman was trying hard to flog my parents a new power shower. his patter went on and on,almost worked, but my dad decided to think on it and wouldnt sign. then the salesman got shirty trying to threaten them into signing .

i then burst into the lounge, the unseen force ,the skinhead son , and told him Gerrout and dont ever fookin come here again

his face was a real picture!

I get that, but we are salesman, selling a service.

I can't see shorts providing an advantage, but they could be a potential disadvantage. Why risk it.

They provide the advantage to keeping my balls nice and cool and from pulling my boxers out of my **** all day. /emoticons/biggrin.png

There comfortable any they will be what im wearing for work, not going to bring a pair of trousers with me to change into.

Mark I'm in East Ham, I canvas in shorts and not a prob, so I think shorts and logo polo looks fine, it's a funny area but you need to hit the council estates, it is where you will find the majority of the English people, Muslims get their windows cleaned still but it is almost impossible to get a solid road always just one or two down each Rd, a good place for an advert or leaflet in the area are pubs, Muslims don't drink so you will reach a different part of the community this way as most people still stick to their local pub, pop in a few even with the Mrs and get chatting to people, "live local matey, just moved in meself, you got a window cleaner?" People speak to people, start getting on with landlord and may let you one do pub two leave a leaflet.

I was thinking of going to Essex to start a round and what I would say is there are lots of windies in areas where there are English areas so still could find hard to build a tight round and if you have an hours trip a day this for me would be important.

Best of luck either way buddy and nice to know someone local to me if I get anyone ask for your way I will pass to you [emoji1303]

will be looking into both going for a drive this afternoon and going to just have a nosey around at a few estates and yes east ham is just round the corner rele thanks for that ill do the same for you I get the odd call from yell asking if I cover all sorts of areas come to think of it do u work newbury park ? had a few calls from there have posted a load of leaflets over there also in the last few days and its deffo shorts weather 2day

Don't venture out really, I do Leytonstone which is just down the a12 but Newbury Park is nice, big houses and more Hindi and Sikh which I find get their windows cleaned more.

If you go just a little further you can get to Upminster but Woodford would be a good shout for you as well, only on the 406 so easy to get to and lots of English. But as I say in our manor it's all about the council estates, takes a little bit of weeding the bad payers (I live in a council estate before anyone thinks I'm getting snobby) but when you do they have a tenancy for life.

marketing/canvassin is summat most windies dont want to do-they just want to clean the windows end of. but once you start chipping away at the marketing one thing leads to another . i really hated it at first but after a while you get so you wonder why was it you hated it so much. start small, maybe ten minutes planning on a scrap of paper the daily effort of marketing your biz each and every morning ,work on up

I try and do a bit every day will be stepping it up abit added a few Facebook groups so will be going on there 1s in the morning for ten min and again in evening and see how that goes I'm just not to much of a chatty door knocking person but I am building my confidence with it

You wanna go out to harold hill and round epping etc

Some nice big houses to try to mix it up a bit

Whatever you do keep doing the canvassing/leafletting daily and you'll get there mate

used to take the missis epping back in the day lol never thought of there to be fair its not that far away I no 2 windies in Harrold hill but still its a fairly big place chances are there tight in there will have to ask them they both strait up blokes and will be honest went school with both of them and have the odd beer with them both also so thanks its not a place id have thought of
