Well the story goes I was cleaning a customers house and there is an alley way I take the ladder down to jump over the back... so I jump over clean the house and on I go..... 20 minutes ago the neighbour of my customer rang and said I broke his sky dish today. I said that's impossible I cleaned the back myself and the ladder didn't touch the sky dish.. he then said it was broke to smitherines and thought he would have got away with just a receiver and then said he needed a whole new dish and will I pay him for it and that it would cost £100. I said if I had off hit and broke or hit it I would have been at your door to tell you. He said is this how your going to leave it . I said yes it is because I didn't touch it..... so basically where do I stand with this if he does try to take this further ? Am I going to get the blame or not?

He had left me a voicemail actually saying the time I was there and it was at lunch time so maybe I did hit it:mad:

sounds to me like they try and do a fast one, i would stand my ground anyhow it would be their case to prove you broke i,t so keep cool and wait for their next move.

I thought that like, I don't understand even if it was me how the whole dish would need replaced like. I've been walking the steps through my mind to see if I hit it and honestly can say I can't recalling hitting it

if you have smashed it beyond reckonicion i would say that you would be in no doubt, it have hit a tv antenna with the ladder and it was highly noticeable.

I bet this has happened to many of us on here, it certainly has to me, twice! Both times it was my fought annoyingly. I had to pay for sky to come out and re-align, £60 both times.

That was when I was trad and moving the ladder about. Not happened whilst wfp. Proof wfp is better lol /emoticons/wink.png

U have hit it ..if ur thinkin like that. It doesn't matter mate .if new one is needed its needed . Apologise a lot. And paŷthe bill ....wen it comes ... The way I do things like that is ... Say I will pay whatever it is wen u get billed for it.. Ie sky charge u on ur bill for it... Say u need them to issue a invoice for insurances purpooses

This shouldn't be a problem for a big comany. And it stops the guy pullin a fast one

After this get him a voucher for a nice restaurant .it the least u can do

if you know it wasnt you, give a short verbal total denial followed by ignoring him .dont text or write anything youll later regret mite even incriminate so totally ignore him and then its up to him to prove things

True, don't want to be sending out the wrong signals. /emoticons/biggrin.png sorry.

Is it worth going back and walking it the way you think you would of done it naturally and seeing if the ladder goes anywhere near the dish?

I would, or otherwise this would send me nuts

I've thought it over in my mind about 20 times lol, I think I've hit it before but I didn't today ( I think )... what would his next move be ? A solicitor ? Also if a solicitor does get on contact would that go straight to court or would there be a settlement proposed?

go around and have a look mate it might just be the casing around the receiver need clipping back together, then have a chat to the owner and if the dish looks in good order as it takes a lot to smash it to smithereens, it might just need realigning it you clipped it, you ether pay the fee to fix of come up with a deal on his windows till the dept is payed. its a shame people try this stunt

If he doesnt have proof u did it ie recorded on camera i would stand my ground u would havr had to have knocked it with some force to break the actual dish they are made of metal and built to withstand all weathers

Exactly if I hit it really that hard that the dish apparently needed replaced I'd like to think I would have noticed, he already went ahead and got people out to fix it before even consulting me on it! First of all he left the voicemail saying it would be 50 quid then he rang again and I answered unaware of his voice mail and he said it was supposed to be 50 but the dish also needed replaced so it was 100

Could it be that you've hit it several times before and done no damage, but this time though you've done damage you don't recall hitting it purely because it's become almost a regular thing? When I was trad, I know I've hit things with the ladder almost every time I've done certain jobs due to the awkward nature of the particular job.

personally if it was me as i was accused of something like this in the past. go around and see where the sky dish was located. and then you can think to yourself could i have hit that or not

I would say I have hit it before but ever since I hit 1 a few months ago I've been extra cautious also , I actually put the ladder so it wasn't even near it

Sorry but even if u had hit it he had no right to get it sorted that quick i would have asked him to leave it so i could get some pictures for my insurance co to have a look at it sounds awfy fishy to me i most certainly wouldnt pay 4 it tell him u r gona speak to your insurance about it as u dont agree with him they will want his details to speak to him they are trained to ask the right questions if u offer him something u have just admitted your guilt!
