WFP help - how do you prevent the water droplets??

I've brought the Big Boy Starter kit a week ago and I've now used it on several jobs. It includes the Unger HiFlo Aluminium Master Pole and DI filter as well as the backpack which I've bright a small trolley for.

So the issue I have is - how do you prevent the water droplets from leaving a nasty finish on the glass?

First thing I did once I got it was to practice on my own home and the finish wasn't great. And so far I've had one complaint from a customer about the droplets marking her glass up and I had to re-do it traditional style. I emailed the company that supplied it for advice and they said you need to run the jets over the glass once you've finished scrubbing it with the brush. Is this right?

By the way Im not new to window cleaning - Im a traditionalist and I've brought this system as a back up which allows me to take on more work and take on jobs that previously I'd have to have declined.

Once you have brushed the glass with the water on pull the brush just off the glass and rinse the window

Youtube will show you the best way

I found I get the best results with a high water flow (you don't use as much water as you'd think with this method) and I then rinse on the glass after scrubbing with the water running all the time.

If you do find it necessary to blade them off the first time or two, don't reintroduce soap. Soap itself will remain around and under seals even when you've bladed the window and will leave marks if not rinsed entirely off the glass. You want to get to a point where there is no soap, dried or otherwise left anywhere on the frames or under the seals. Pure water is all you want to put on the glass. If you do have to use soap for instance to loosen grease marks, it needs to be rinsed off thoroughly.

Having said all this, it should be possible to get a satisfactory finish most of the time with just pure water even on the first clean by following some of the suggestions on here.

I sometimes trad bottom windows if i am low on water or know i need to save some for a big job

Once or twice in succession won't cause any issues for next time wfp

Easy enough to rinse well like normal plus you would see the rainbow effect in the water at the top as you rinse if very soapy

But not a very good idea really as you may do it a few times on the same windows without realising

I just watched a few videos on youtube. They helped for sure. One thing I'll say about the Big Boy backpack though is that the battery doesn't provide that much power for the water jets. On the videos I watched, the guys had a high powered water flow. The backpack is more of a trickle in comparision. Maybe I'll take the DI filter out with me next time and just hook that up to the customers outside tap.

I'm just learning the techniques for WFPs so bear with me. I can see the advantages though - not only are jobs quicker but they are easier as you dont have to drag all the equipment around with you..give me time!

You don't need a huge flow of water

Just enough to fire out a couple of inches before it starts to drop

All you need is a cascade of water down the glass

as the guys have said, get yourself on redtube, bloody heck you tube they will cover everything you need to know

once you get used to it you will never go back

Sounds like he is only rubbin the windows. Needs to learn how to rinse

As all the other lads have said. It's all in the rinsing. Have a bit more practice including the rinsing and see how you go. If you still have issues let us know I am sure we can get you to a point of not leaving spots. /emoticons/wink.png

I have wfp from 1983 and feel the key is up down then across with rinse . I do believe a hog hair nylon brush works best too. Take time to rinse is key . We have many clips 257 at you tube under SimPole

@Rezzi thamks pal, watched this already. Gardiner is good at what he does. I was going to buy one of his pole's but the difficulty in getting hold og him on the phone lost him my sale. I literally tried to call him 20 or 30 times and not once did they answer. So I went with Unger
