Becoming vat reg

I think most wont mindas thats part of business but remember it makes a £10 all of a sudden a £12 job.

We did the math last year and you have to be around £120k to make it worth while.

In the end we avoided VAT registration by just taking holidays when getting too close to the thresholds.

Amalgamation of business act.

When they catch up to you having two companies in same business then they consider it as one company. You are automatically guilty of tax evasion and liable to pay all back taxes.

All those that know a bloke that's got two business doing the same or one in hisband one in wifes name are talking toss or have been lied to by said bloke.

I had a long discussion with my accountant about this, and the various ways of avoiding being vat registered, there's only one and that's to keep your business turnover below the threshold.

If everything goes to plan I should hit that next summer, my intention is to Increase my prices next spring by 20% in anticipation of registering. My original customers haven't had a price increase for a couple of years so I'm hoping the increase will be accepted.
