Anyone listen to audiobooks while out on the glass? I enjoy listening to stories before bed or on a long journey. Mostly from providers like YouTube and podcasts/ RSS feeds ( all free) Been listening to Roald Dahls Matilda with the kids on a car jurny up north and really enjoyed it and have listened to many before, e.g., Robinson Crusoe, Swiss family Robinson and I enjoy Jules Verne too. Any one els enjoy this and if so any recommendations?

I prefer to read my books and do so most evenings. I love my Kindle.

I was put off audiobooks when I listened to 'The Davinci Code' and the narator insisted on doing silly accents for the characters. I know it's key to good story telling but not for me.

 
Have started audiobooks before and not taken to the notator. If you don't like them you'll not like the story. I generally prefer listening to male readers, don't know why.

You may enjoy rich dad poor dad judging by your previous, by the way the art of war is exelent if applied with Buisness in mind but it is huge!

I tried art of war but the narrator so something was off! Do you use audible?

 
View attachment 8941 If you have iPhone iPad etc use podcast and search for loyal books, about 30 classics all free. But my favourite method is to rip them off YouTube at home on wifi then to listen to offline saving data and battery. With you tube for example search Harry Potter audiobook and you'll have the lot. I often just type audiobooks in to YouTube and have a look what comes up. All free too. I use Video D/L to save them offline (free)View attachment 8942

The good thing about Audible is it give you 1 Credit per month, and you can use it to buy any book (wether it's £100 or £1). And then here's the genius if you don't want to spend money - you cancel your membership. And you can return the book and get another one with credit, and you can keep doing this as many times as you want. I.e. £7.99 gets you as many books as you want, just one at a time.

 
Last year I listened to 'an interview with a vampire' on my I pod. Absolutely brilliant, unlike the film.

I've learnt to speak Turkish fairly well by doing a course on my I pod /emoticons/smile.png

I'll give that audiobook a go then Steve, always on the lookout for something good to listen to. I enjoy the podcast of desert island discs for the odd hour now and then. Never gon down the educational rout like yourself and others have mentioned on this post but see it makes good use of time.

I'm listening to 'dark matter' by Blake crouch (audible). You can get 3 months free via amazon.

Of if you want to rip from YouTube there are some good James Bond books.

I get fed up with music.

I use Spotify mostly at work. The playlists are good as I can listen to decade stuff. It's worth the money as I use it everyday.

I do listen to the Bible though. Only thing I can actually read or listen to and not get bored.

The book of Mark is my favourite, really easy to listen to.

I had spotify but cancelled it - listen to talk radio now and just started to download audiobooks via the library then converted to the app - very engrossing.

Definitely audiobooks on long journeys up to Wales - makes the time fly by (such a boring journey)

Listening to the Bible sounds tough - probably make me slow down my working pace.... Whats the attraction with Mark?

Mark as I say is just easy, no prophecies, or hard to understand accounts, written in Greek so the sentences are easier to understand in English, and it includes some accounts of Jesus' life I find the most interesting.
