Gardiners Backpack

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Is it pants because of the battery rattling gav? Or what else do you not like about it? Yes the battery moves back and forward slightly would be better if it didn't, but looking in through, it dosent hit against anything so shouldn't be a problem.

If it wasnt under warranty I'd take it apart and make the battery not move at all, but warranty is good and gardiners seem to stand by their products if something does go wrong!

Its over rated and over priced IMO i much prefer using my wcw warehouse one .

Since i have bought the wcw backpack i haven't touched Gardiners one .

Good thread, keep the opinions coming. I was thinking of getting one for a few jobs that are a right pain. Was going to go with Gardiners simply because their poles are so good but not so sure now.

Which wcw did you get? I was first going to get the esr16 @ £140.. Gardiners was £135 all in.. That's pretty good I think. Gardiners backpack hasn't been out for long and Gav is only person that I know has one. They all do the same thing really.. It's like ettore squeegee and unger squeegee.. Same thing..

Maybe clean my windows tomorrow with it and tell ya's a bit more.. Lol Iv cleaned my windows about 20 times in past 2 weeks

Everyone is entitled to an opinion .

Mine is you would be better off with a wcw backoack !

IMO the Gardiners one is bulky and not as well built as the wcw kit

Also wcw send there backpacks with connectors where as Gardiners dont

This is what im led to believe as i bought thr wcw one from my brother .

Belfast if you get chance have a look in the insides because to be honest i was shocked at the quality of the interior connections .

The wires were bare in a water abundant atmosphere IMO this is asking for trouble !!!

Why do you think that it is over-rated? This implies that it has been talked up in some way beyond its abilities which as far as I can see it has not. The battery does have a little movement in its area, but this does not impact on any of its workings.

I previously used a backpack from the same mould and factory as the WCW one and had it for 3 years. I have now switched to the Gardiner one (we are the only distributors of this item despite the image listing on WCW) and have been using it for about 6 months. I find the more robust tank construction to be reassuring along with the slightly squarer tank this gives a useful extra 3 litres of carrying capacity (you may feel this is bulky). The knock proof switches, dials and gauges will help prevent much of the switch damage that is common on competing backpacks. I was also impressed with the car-like quality of all of the connections inside this is a massive step up from my previous backpack - I am surprised by your comments on the connectors as most of them are car-type push-fit connector blocks for the components. Not only does this make for great connections, but also allows for quick changing should any component need replacing later in its life. Also the battery terminals are soldered on which prevents some of the common issues with such devices where the battery ‘loses’ a connection.

Although 6 months is still not long enough (when used occasionally as I do) to get a full picture of it I am happy so far which is why I then went ahead and imported a container full of them! We have sold a large number of these units so far and the only problems we have had has been with 3 units that were damaged whilst in transit by the courier (we are used to these sort of issues!).

If your only major issue is a rattling battery (which will not affect its working in anyway) then I will arrange a collection to remedy this for you. This will not affect the product warranty in any way.
