I am thinking of binning off this service as we hate doing it , we use a vac but again we still hate doing it , so I was thinking of stop doing this service as were way to busy on the glass , as anubody else done this ? if so any problems ? we only did 6 this year in total

I'm passing a lot of gutter vac work onto a mate of mine. I can't be arsed with it. I'll do some small gutter jobs off a ladder, but using a vac twists my melon.

As soon as you are to busy, you should up prices rather than not take it unless you have friends or family who will benefit from the work. Not so fun in this weather but always pays well.

I agree with Mikey, I learnt this off a sparky mate, if you get offered a job you don't want, quote silly money and they'll either pass or take you up, either way, win win. I've had some very lucrative jobs like this.

I like the big gutter jobs, it's nice getting one £200 bank payment rather that chasing loads of £25 payments. One job and the day is done, sub out the rest of the work and easy money.

Very lucrative work I always price it high , wait until I get a few jobs lined up and do a days work on gutters very few customers can do it themselves so are happy to pay to have it all cleared out and down pipes flushed through , there is a few more window cleaners round my way jumping on the band waggon and charging silly low prices it's got to pay well or not worth doing

Pjj is right it's not worth it for silly money £50 an hour at least for gutter cleaning or leave it alone. I like to leave it as when the weather is bad I will clean then 1 bank transfer later and not lost a days wages to mother nature!

Turned down 2 this last week focusing on maintaining round over next few weeks,do the gutters and conny cleans March to October kinda thing

im just concentrating on getting my round all compact now because it was all over the shop before and most the time was spent driving.

i dont mind cleaning algae off gutters etc but not cleaning them out. half the jobs in the past i done had them silly hedgehog things in the gutters that are useless or wire mesh.

I take the gutter jobs on , but the windows come first, I do them on a Saturday morning, got a £200 gutter job pencilled in this week but only when the glass is done as this is our bread and butter

I got my first big gutter job off a cherry picker this week so I'm well into the gutters at mo

Still not bothered with the vac yet

If you don't like doing them - don't. You call the shots and there's no point doing jobs you don't like. Wasn't that part of the reason you started working for yourself in the first place? Me, I like doing gutter clearing, but have turned down or passed on other jobs I didn't want to do.

I never turn it down. The money is far too good.

Also we have acquired custys in the past that come to us as their window cleaner wont do the other odd jobs.

I will be £480 better off this week alone thanks to 2 gutter jobs.

I actively look for it when on a leaflet drop or a canvas.

Glad im not the only one that thinks its a ball ache.

I was thinking of just offering 1 week of the year say 5th of December to 11th December just for gutters. Let all the customers know, get them to book in for that week I know there will be people that will want it done right away out of December that you would lose but so be it. That means the gutter vac is off the van for the rest of the year so is the broom and triple ladders (mostly), does anyone do this and does it work out well?

Could have a mate help out if it was a weeks block as well

Definitely thought there was a fly on the laptop

I do everything apart from cleaning out gutters not got time there is a bucket of dirty water windy round here charging 20 quid to clean them out and 20 quid to clean Conny roofs I'll leave it to him.

thanks guys a very mixed bag think I will throw my vac up for sale on gum tree for good money and go from there , if it doesn't sell them I will just price them high ,
