Another Clean Window

hey guys.

I'm looking to build a 21lpm pressure washer, I want it fitted on a metal plate that can be fixed to the van or if I need to pulled out easily and dropped onto a trolley and wheeled around. I'll build the trolley and plate separately that's not the issue though.

Basically I've had a look around all sorts of websites and there is so much choice I'm lost now.

Wondering if anyone can give me some configuration suggestions, I want a Honda engine because I know they are reliable, it needs to be about 21lpm and capable of spraying hypo and other chemicals, I see the engines come with different shafts so I need to know what shaft to go with, belt or gearbox, what pump, are all the fittings for the lance and attachments a standard fit all across the board, what are the best brands, anything else I should know about, that sort of thing.

Links would also be appreciated

Many thanks in advance

You don't want to be putting chemicals through a washer pump phone Ben Marriot at Rutland pumps tell him what you want to do and he will advise you as to what you need , he's very good and won't try and sell you the dearest things out there

Ahhh I see, so thats where the xjet comes into play then

I watched a video and one of the washers had a chemical pickup pipe that connected straight to the pump, is that just for milder detergents maybe ubik or something?

Yeah your right though I should give them a ring but the trouble is it was going to be an ongoing project where I buy bits as I need them and can afford them, for that reason I wanted to put a checklist together of everything I need then source the parts as cheap as pos at the time.

Still worth giving them a ring though I guess

If you want to spray chems you need a downstream injector. .that is connected after the pump and the chemical is drawn by the vacuum created by the water passing past it

Use the pressure washer on low pressure and it sucks up more chemical due to something called the venturi effect

High pressure seems to fire lots of water out and not suck up much chemical

They are not expensive either

The explanation above is very good , I don't have an X jet but use a back pack sprayer and spray chemicals first let it dwell then wash offf

Nicely explained, thank you.

Things are starting to make much more sense.

I've been using an 8L pump up sprayer, it says it's good for chemicals but haven't tried anything stronger than ubik in it yet, I bought a spare just in case,

On reflection in some ways your probably better spraying first as it lets the chemical do its job, I was looking to cut out the time it takes to spray then go back and clean but now I'm starting to think maybe just stick with the sprayer for chemicals, trial and error and a lot of experience I guess, it's all new and daunting to me still, getting there though lol

I use a Gardiner back pack with a modified wfp with a fan jet on the end , you can spray up a 3 bed semi all walls in a few muinets you might need to go over some areas a couple more times but it doesn't take long . It's also very useful for spraying virosol/tfr on gutters facias etc , you can also turn down the flow and use a hypo mix through your normal window cleaning pole to do house walls light scrub , minimal drift of hypo then rinse with garden hose or pressurewasher comes up great

Nice work, amazing how much difference it makes, looks like new again.

I've been using one of these

It's been brilliant, I use it with a 16ft lance and spray a ubik/ pure water mix, like I say never used it with hypo but I bought a spare just in case, just haven't had the right job yet to use hypo lol.

What lance are you connecting to that sprayer? I'd love something like that to spray up the gutters and sofits with ubik

Get an old water fed pole put a fan jet on the top of it instead of a brush and off you go works a treat

I use this

Sprayer Extension Long Lance - 5.4m

It fits straight onto the regulator on my sprayer,

Sprayer came with a couple of different nozzles and they all work in the lance also.

Good bit of kit but the hose ends up in a mess after a while, easy enough to wrap back on and then spray hot water through it to soften the pipe and it's ok again
