Enlarging A Logo

Is there any way tht a logo can be enlarged do I can give it to company who is signing my van he has said logo I have given is to small and once it's enlarged wouldn't look 100%

Basically you need to convert it from a raster image (made up of lots of little dots, like pointilism) to vector (made up of maths, basically, think of like a sine wave or something) - the problem is with raster images, is that as you increase their size, they degrade. Imagine a photo on a balloon, or a piece of chewing gum - As you stretch it, it will degrade, the bigger it gets the less ink is covering that area, and it'll look worse and worse - and that's what your signwriting guy is talking about.

Basically there are two options - either trace over it using a vector program like adobe illustrator, or use the same program's 'live trace' feature and maybe touch up any areas that aren't quite 100% by hand.

Dodger seems to know what he's talking about but if he doesn't have time to do it or whatever, then fire it over to me, I don't mind having a look for ya. I was a designer at a london ad agency in my former life /emoticons/wink.png My email addy is neil (at) coastal window cleaning dot co dot uk (have spelt it out to avoid being spammed by bots! but it's all one word with the usual @ and .co.uk)

lol I don't really know that much mate, just help out if someone better don't offer. You sound like you would do a way better job mate so if shaun would like you to do it for him i don't mind at all.

Ha I might sound like I know what i'm doing but talk is cheap! Let's see if I can actually back it up with results! /emoticons/tongue.png

Na, I'm happy to help out anyone on here, it's a nice forum and people seem friendly so anything I can do to give back a bit to that, i'm well up for.

Having said all that, I just realised that the easiest way by far would be to contact the guy that made the logo and ask him for an EPS of it or just the original file as the signwriter would be able to use either of them most likely /emoticons/tongue.png

But ya, I'll help.

Dodger did you say you'd found a replacement sprayer eg. a non unger one that was good? I've taken to using a 99p one I got at wilkinsons, it's only small but it's dead handy when I'm up a ladder and my mop is a bit dry, it fits in a scrim pouch on my belt so is dead handy - so thanks for the tip there!!

I have the psd if ya want to have a look mate.

No mate still use the Unger and it's only about a tenner and slips on ya belt so real handy. The sprayers I've been on about are for wfp work, just working on a £7 7litre one that I've increased the pressure on today by approx 50%. I'll be using this one for virosol spraying but works a treat for wfp as well, go figure lol.

Sounds interesting dodger, maybe do a post on it with a few pics or a little youtube vid so we can see it in action? I'll be happy to take a look at the psd, fire it over to me?

Shaun that's just the link to the PSD, he's sending it to me. It's a lovely logo but it's all wrong for what the signwriter will want, he needs solid colours he can use a vinyl cutter to cut out.

I'll redo it for you keeping the same design as much as possible but making a version that the signwriter will be able to use - but it'll have to wait until the morning as it's quarter to 12 and i'm not workin that late for anyone! /emoticons/tongue.png

But like I said I'll do a vector version for you and PM you a link to download it in the morning
