at present no i dont but missus just said that to me earlier...I'm up Norfolk visiting family at moment and its pretty icy and frosty hear..

she said same are you going to put salt down after cleaning case customer slips...never thought about it before...but wondered if customer comes home to find you thrown grit/salt everywhere are they going to be pleased or peed off ??

This was suggested to me this Winter too - wouldn't for window cleaning but did an FSG job and wished I had. Got some now for future Conny/FSG jobs in the cold snaps.

I tend to avoid doing front and back doors when the water's freezing just in case. If I happen to notice spillages I'll let people know if they're home. I wouldn't want to spend my time putting salt and grit down when its harder to make money this time of year as it is.

I'm not sure how you stand liability wise? (domestic houses I'm talking). A while back I went to one of the council roadside salt bins and put some in a bucket in the van intending to use it if exceptionally cold outside people's doors etc. But then I read somewhere that if you put salt / grit down you are basically saying its then safe so then liable if someone slips where as just ice couldn't be proved to be down to the window cleaner..... not sure if anyone knows but I'm guessing its more of a concern on commercials high street pavements etc! Anyway happy New year to you all
