Has anyone come across this before .??

Been looking at a ford transit,13 plate . Went to look at it , was told it's restricted to70mph . It could be taken off ,if it was sent to ford .

I know the speed limit is 70 anyway. Would it be an nightmare to drive .

should'nt be @Natty1972 as above thats the speed limit anyway it wont perform and less up to 70 i have a swb transit i never push it to 70 they dont like getting up there better stay at 55 for fuel /emoticons/tongue.png

Can't see it as a big problem unless you do a lot of motorway driving - could make overtaking a bit dodgy.

most biger vans are 60mph any way on moter way but my vivaro is only aloud to go 60 om moter way but its nice to have the choice to above 70 when needed

My question is call the insurance company and see if there's a deal as you are purchasing a van that has been modified to comply with UK laws.

Personally even though I know my Trafic can pull over 100 mph (not that I ever have officer) I don't get why they sell commercials in this country that can go over 70.

If we all knew our vehicles were maxed out I think it would make for less impatience on the road. However as insurance companies penalize you for mods to 'pimp' your ride do they also reward you for mods to 'help' keep your activity legal?

Thats wrong /emoticons/tongue.png

Motorway you can do 70mph, dual's 60, a roads 50. All depends on max payload.

My custom does a 102 before it hits the limiter. With a full tank of 850L it still hits the 102 limiter (on a private air strip)

EDIT - Sorry to answer your question it wouldn't bother me to be honest. Probably a good idea!

Cheers for the replies, I'll phone my insurance company. Thats sounds good if I could get some sort of discount. I live in a rural area , the nearest motor way is 50miles away .

I was just a little worried it would drive like a bag of coal . I m going for a test drive on Monday. (That's if he doesn't sell it beforehand) .

Depends if yiu do a lot of motorway.

It wouldn't bother me as I very rarely go on motorways or use the van for long trips. But my van is just for work in use a car for general use. Mind you I don't drive that fast now I'm older would have bothered me more in years ago

I've a 62 swb transit. Pulls nicely, up mountain roads and is happy on motorways. I'm in no rush though. Find out when the dpf is due a change.

It won't make any difference to performance up to 70 it will just not go any faster

I would think an insurance company would be all for that

Give them a ring
