Been waiting for this day since I started out lol.

Looks like the gearbox/clutch has packed in.

4 hour wait apparently for a tow truck as my van doesn't have a towing eye.

Don't know what to do really the nearest gearbox specialist cant look at it whist monday so going to have to get towed home.

looks like I will have to use the car and some barrels?

Half a mind to buy another cheap van as I don't reckon a it'll be cheap.

You poor bloke!

I feel your pain...

My gearbox went about 2 years ago - blooming nightmare.

My brother helped me with transport for the best part of a week till I was back on the road.

I hope you get it sorted it soon Buddy - good luck

Everyone's nightmare [emoji85] good luck... if it's manual get them to chuck a second hand or reconditioned one in (look for it yourself if you have to) and pay them labour... I used to be in motortrade, one that's been in a crash will be as good as anything else... vans r pretty basic it's not that massive a job (prob dependant on van though)... if it's auto [emoji30][emoji379] (obviously you won't get garuntee on labour but you will get 3 months on second hand.)

I don't know what I'd do to be honest... but feel for you.

If needing to replace it Adam have you thought about a much newer van on finance?

My credit rating was seriously poor due to a psycho ex but I managed to get financed at perfectly normal rates by a company that deals with self employed small business. Now I got a nice reliable 'newish' van.

If you want their details let me know, they can probably get you sorted.

Its a fiat scudo 1.6 hdi @Damo

The symptoms are long and quite mind boggling lol, i trained as a mechanic when i left school so have a basic understanding of things but its long story

Started off a few months ago not going into a couple of gears, so i changed the gearstick linkage mechanism and things seemed a lot better.

Last week it started crunching going into second gear only. yesterday there was horrible grating sound in most gears. then it stopped so i though better get it to a garage today. well this morning it was ok, i though ok maybe its because it was cold with the oil viscosity. then i tried reversing today and it sounded like a bag of spanners. After this i wwas sat in neutral and it kept "grabbing" like trying to set off like the clutch was engagin and disengaging. Anyway i though righ lets go to the garage, put it in first to set off and it was just like settign off with the handbrake on it just wouldnt go, i managed to rag it into second same happended and i stalled. From that point it wouldnt go into any gear and will only start with the clutch down like its stuck in gear. AA man was like i dunno really lol, so its now sat outside. Dual mass flywheel on these things, im going to get it towed to a gearbox specialist tomorrow so will leave it with them.

@Green Pro Clean Ltd i have just taken a loan so can use that if i really need to but didnt want to spend it as that was my marketting fund.

More gutted because ive just paid a canvasser and have poo loads of work lined up including loads of first cleans, i dont fancy doing them with 5 barrels in my old motor.

I might see if i can grab a cheap van over the weekend or even buy a newer one, i need something asap beacuse im behind as it is

Always expect the unexpected lol, I've a roof rack to go on the car if my van ever breaks down

Its funny you should say the @CHWS as my next purchase was to be a 7 seater family car and i was going to use it as a backup vehicle with a roofrack etc.

I do have a car sat on the drive, but its been sat months as i planned to get rid of it this year for the above vehicle. its useable but i only have 5 barrels and that won last me 5 mins on first cleans, also i have a trolley but the battery wont last all day. Im going to see if its any good tomorrow meanwhile im frantically looking for a cheap van on ebay lol. Really dont fancy turning up to new customers in that old thing with a load of barrels in it lol

I'm sure there is plenty of cheap vans about to tie you over, at least you can insure it etc and once it's fixed cancel the insurance and sorn it or something

The towing eye should be in the van with the jack and you screw it in. Well i don't have one lol. Broke down at 11 finally got home at half 3. It was pretty boring

I wouldnt mind the info green if you don't mind[emoji106]

Poor to hear @adamangler, I have had nightmares this winter with my van but as the new arrival was coming did not have the money for new!

Can you not hire a van for the day/week I know it will cost a bit but gets you up to date and gets them 1st cleans in order?

I will ring a few hire companies tomorrow, i rang one today and it was £380 for the week, not worth it for that money.

We got a hire place near me. £20 a day for a connect, 40 for a sprinter. Vans are shocking tho, thrifty are not too bad on price

Ok, seems that one i rang was OTT. On europcar i can get a caddy for £100 for the week or a vivaro for £140

Thats not too bad, if i was a 200 quid a day guy i would be happy with that unfortunately im not but i dont want to let these 1st cleans down so may have to hire one if i cant fins a cheap van at the weekend
