Off to a bad start

Hi everyone

I'm Ant, new to window cleaning and the forum. Started building up a round less than a month ago. I have 22 customers which to some degree makes this not as painful.

I got clipped by a car yesterday whilst going for a little spin on my motorbike. The moron undertook me and then cut right across my path clipping my front wheel. Thankfully had my helmet camera on and the driver failed a breathalyser.

I have a broken ankle, broken collarbone and dislocated knee. Have had ankle plated and pinned, patella popped back into place and collarbone left to heal naturally. I have broken bones in the past and have had my arm sliced open on razor wire but have never felt worse pain than dislocating my knee cap. Sheer agony .......

Anyway, I need to break the news to my customers and hope they dock me off and find someone else.

I guess I can at least concentrate on building a website, designing marketing material and researching etc whilst I'm healing.

Not to mention I'll now have plenty of time to keep trawling this forum lol.

Sorry to hear that specially has your just starting out

I would expect the customers to be OK really just depends how long you out?

Do you not no any other cleaners who would cover till on feet?

Maybe someone on here is local

Sorry to sorry to hear this, if you think your going to lose your customers because of recovery time can't you sell your new round off and get a little back after the hard building it up, just a thought.

Ouch mate

Had a couple of bad tumbles off bikes myself both due to idiots in cars

Feel sorry for you fella

Hope you heal quick

Keep advertising on facebook etc and get as much work as possible lined up for when you get back at it

Hope your back to work soon . A few years ago I had to take 7 months off due to illness What I did was to inform customers personally about what had happened and keep them updated . Only lost a few customers . Try having a word with your insurance company about claim for lost wages we pay them enough .

ANF let us know where you are from, some one decent on here may cover your work for a few months, if they have the time. it would be better to have something to go back to. . it will be too long for your ustomers to wait, Id think about selling it also. you may need the cash, you an always start up again. or work with someone untill you build a round up from scratch again.

Not worth loosing them ang getting nothing back for your canvassing work you already done

I was only off for 1 month no work at all while resting after opp, with my hernia, But i had to employ a chap to do the round for me, i took him out helped with the reel etc, untill i started to do the bottoms, that lasted 2 1/2 months, now i am back , but slowly. If i didnt have the cover i may have lost a lot of work.

You will have to think quick, they may say they will wait. Sounds like you will be out of action for around 1/2 a year. You wont be able to afford to get a injury while working too early. Set you back longer

GOOD LUCK.

Put your feet up and look for a helper to cover

Cheers guys.

Phoned each customer today, all seem sound and happy to wait, most stated they have been without a window cleaner for so long that a few months won't make much of a difference.

I've got the whole thing on my helmet cam anyway which the police currently have plus the fact he failed a breath test. It will all pan out ok.

I'm under no illusions that some of my custys will source a new windy, I make just over £200 a month from my small round, like I said I've not been going long.

Spoken to solicitors today also, so got ball rolling with them. I have legal cover on my insurance so that's all covered.

I reckon they'll stay loyal mate, specially this time of year and if u did a good job... getting them all back to monthly is where the bother will be... lol trouble is windows stay clean for longer if your using WFP and so will frames... so in 2 months they'll still look alright [emoji85]... u might get a good few every couple/few months will do... especially if they haven't had cleaner for ages.
