I've been reading a lot of threads about flyer response rates. Anywhere from .25% to 3% response rate.

I'm looking at doing a big drop, about 31k flyers in my local area. Any idea of what kind of return I should expect? Anything above .75% and I'd be happy. I'd make my money back on one-offs, but would hope that most lead to regular cleans.

Would you spend 3k on a large flyer drop or pay someone to go door to door?

@steele I think I'd go with the door knocking out of the two. The reason for this is simple...

If we generally assume fliers need to be going through more letter boxes than a canvasser needs to chap doors; then the round your building becomes pretty spread out with the fliers (if you expect similar amount of houses with either method used)

The work a canvasser builds by chapping isn't guaranteed to be compact but is more likely to be closer together by the very fact he's working door to door...and talking to people. All those maybes with a flier (that had a question or two and so never called) could be a yes at the door for example.

Plus you'll probs end up with more houses with a canvasser than the low percentage that fliers offer.

That is my thought anyway.

you're right Chris, canvassing will be better for compact work and any work from flyers will be spread out, so I'm doing both. I've selected an area of villages surrounding my town that I want to target 11K addresses, at 0.05% contact rate I'm hoping for 55 jobs from that. I've sent the royal mail booking form and they'll start in 3 weeks. I've also spoken to Kapre and was impressed so I think I'll be making the deposit and getting that started too. so by the end of march I hope to see the effects of both strategies.
