What do you think of the connectors and crocodile clips?

Going to put pump and controller on ply board.

Where do I get hose and connectors for pump?

neat job, are those clips from maplins, i tried them on my leisure battery , nacked my fingers, they wouldnt open very wide, golf buggy battery, ok for a trolley,

yeah clips are from Maplins. They are bloody stiff. The Maplin's employees said if I had easier to put on ones they would fall off more easily. At the end of a days work I will disconnect from golf battery and bring in flat to recharge.

I am off to get some hozelock connectors from B and Q and nutt and bolts to attach controller and pump to board.

you can now apply for a position within ISIS, as a bomb making apprentice. they are looking to recruit in your area
You made me laugh Johnny B. I have a picture of slippy standing there with all his gear ready to go on his first job of the day looking puzzled at a smoking crater where his car/van once stood.

Joking aside, I did accidentally short out the wiring on my 26ah trolley battery a few years back on the wrong side of the fuse. It made me jump I can tell you, as the wires momentarily welded together before they burned apart. The smoke and fumes were foul and I nearly burned my hands on the wiring. I've been extra careful since believe me.

SNAP, i had an old controller passed onto me via a chap on here around a year ago, i set up a 2 man wfp kit with it, to shurflo wired upto a van battery . i spent around 4 hours getting it set up correctly positioned. reel, controller, battery , pump all connected up securelly to be just right, terminals on and off battery around 6 times to make sure all ok. the van battery being black, the terminals hard to see. - & +, i hung the crocodile clips off battery ready to go out next day.

the mrs says try it to make sure its ok.

not thinking i put clips onto battery, woosh, SMOKE, stinking of burning. fuse all melted, wires melting into controller,

controller binned, had to chage some cabling, luckilly the pump was ok.

i blamed the mrs all day. All my fault. **** happens, had to get a new controller next day

GOT MY CROCODILE LIPS OFF EBAY

Got the link by any chance?

Right so ALWAYS put the crocodile clips on the correct battery terminals then lol!

Not great on electrics when u say shorted the electrics do u mean I could do this if the bare wire connectors touched each other from different coloured wires?

In answer to your question, Yes. Ideally you need to use connectors that don't leave any metal exposed.

However, in your case it would probably only blow the fuse. When I did it my battery was in a battery box and as I screwed the lid down I trapped two of the wire inside the box, split the plastic insulation and pressed the wires together. The fuse however, was on the outside of the box and so offered no protection.

lessons are learned by 1 daft mistake. my connections are secured to my Leisure battery, also when harging by a smart charger connections secured to battery at all times, when charging battery i just connect charger to clamped on connectors. no chance of wrong connection there.

Connecting

RED on +

BLACK on -

removing

BLACK then RED

stick some red tape or marker on + , I couldnt see mine good as all black, have to look near terminals to see which is which, easy mistake but costly
