My canvassing blog!

@RichieRich I would do a big canvassing drive at same time mate. Just incase. People don't always like change but I understand it's the best plan for me/us...and so we do what suits our business plans.

Yeah it's been a very tiring year but what was the alternative. A-still work in care and feel like I was making no different anyway,in a company focused on admin or B-do all this hard work but ultimately over a longer period of time. No thanks lol

Cheers @Tuffers matey

Nothing there na. I've got cameras up now though.

I'll struggle to keep my calm when see certain people out and about, though we need a licence here so I best keep that on lock down lol

I'll branch out a bit too. I know I wanted a compact round here and to an extent I do but price wise I've found a big town here that I seem to be accepted on pricing higher. Obviously keep what I have here but take on better priced work I mean.

How is things down your way? Weather holding up?

Weather was heavy drizzle all day here today, but after driving 45 miles to work I wasn't going to turn round and drive back home because it was a bit wet. I drove up last Monday and turned round after an hours work due to the rain only for it to stop half way home

Tennis elbow in both elbows is causing me a few problems. Had it since before Xmas, old age catching up with me /emoticons/sad.png

@Tuffers that's right didn't you move house a bit away from your work?

Tennis elbow. That must be murder doing pole work? You need a cherry picker..yup that's it I'll get you a cherry picker for Xmas!

Yes I moved quite away from my work due to wanting to be near my daughter. Picked up a fair bit of work locally by canvassing on a weekend on new build estates. I've got to the point now where I just keep my eye on homes where people have just moved in and pounce on them straight away. It will take a very long time before I can think of not going 45 miles up the motorway every day.

Tennis elbow is horrible, I was struggling that much last week that I needed to use two hands to put the gear stick in reverse on my van /emoticons/sad.png

@Tuffers ain't you getting physio?something that bad sounds like it'll only get worse

@adamangler I was most impressed by your diy van mount vid btw. Is it ticking over?

I'm not sure about employing. If I did it would be wfp now and for that I would want to run a big van..and if that happens it'll be when my average prices are higher.

I do however want to get more commercial. I expect a few enquiries from the like this year due to website ranking well. Infact I had 3 calls today..all outside my area but a good sign.

I need to just focus on doing a bloody good wfp job from now until spring and then we shall see my friend

Well done Chris33 the only way is up for you buddy, keep us posted on the move to wfp as I'm really thinking about it the only thing putting me off is 50 % of my customers didn't like the wfp that's how I managed to get them on board with the traditional way.

@Philip what works for me up her may not for you and vice versa. They all get lettered here with the handover and it's gona detail the health and safety aspect, cleaner frames and the like.

What I'm not sure is whether to mention that it may take a couple cleans until perfect. Being new to wfp this is something I could do with having the privilege of.

Oh yeh, forgot you was going wfp, i imagine your focus is on the changeover before you crack on any further.

The van mount was temporary put into a hire van, its now all back in my van. Been working like that since i started mate and dont see much reason to get anything more expensive. It puts water to the brush head so really does all it needs to.

Cheers buddy, i must sit down and get a letter sorted out that's definitely the best starting point

@Chris33 I wouldn't worry mate about it taking a few cleans or telling them - just thoroughly do the frames and runse well on the first clean!

I used to warn all my customers when WFP as you'll know in Scotland it's still less common, but I never got any complaints, even the sceptical ones.

I would recommend changing to WFP in stages, the first cleans will take longer, so don't move all 300+ customers in the same month!

First cleans with wfp can be hard work, I'm working through a load at the.minute and they are a good 50% slower than regular cleans.

Dry the top frames really well is the beat you can do. I use a microfiber drying towel to make sure on all first cleans before rinsing the glass.

I tell my newbies when they are done it looks like it's pi55ed down with rain and may have slight spotting but when using stock you got to factor in few things like if building work about pole any work due to dust in air also reinforced windows don't work as water runs off like but not like a curtain and black rubbers around windows leak but there is a solution to that deck trim in boating shops seal it to never leak

Going to sort a letter out today then when I have the system ready to go I'm goin to start with the ones that I no have no problems with it.

well done chris you have had extra busy first year well done.Great to hear these success storys, you have been totally committed, been reading all your posts since you started.

Dont worry to much with the change to WFP,you will sail through it mate the WFP system so so quick.Best thing I ever done you wont be disapointed. This is typical example of believing in yourself and being totally motivated. How many times have we read on here of guys going into this game half hearted, thinking they are going to make fortune ,spending total fortune. If your not commited ,motivated you fail:thumbsdown:

@Duncs I've been doing my trad work this last two weeks and imaging how many mins I will save per house when wfp. It'll be substantial that's for sure.

This blog and particularly the support from all you guys has helped tremendously. Otherwise I would be like all the other guys here,no direction and no knowledge of where I should be heading with things.

This job had been my life since starting and I'm fine with it being like that for a wee while more. Perhaps by summer I will be in a position to live again lol

So anyone reading this down the line...that is new like I was.

Canvas your **** off. Daily.

Be strict with yourself.

Learn as you go.

Expect gradual improvements not instant success.

Have a short term plan, and look long term but don't focus on it too much yet.

Take risks. Not with ladders! But with pricing and trying new things.

Be lucky!

Chris you will be amazed with how much time you will save. Also no ladders always working safely..What your TDS reading are you going to be using RO.Your right about the forum loads of gd guys here willing to help, does make all the difference. .
