Think this is not working out

The main problem I have run into is trying to explain to potential customers what softwashing is in my advertising.

The average Joe does not know what softwashing is. I have adjusted my ad in the local paper multiple times so far and I am still not happy with it.

Advertise with the problem you are solving for the customer not what the process is called. By all means explain that in the advertising but that shouldn't be the headline.

Yes, 99.9% of joe blogs public don't have a clue what soft washing is and I don't think they care! All most folk want to know is "what price" you can clean whatever surface for! I myself when I start soft washing will not be advertising as a soft washer just as I clean Roofs, Render etc etc.

Not good Jim

I know you have done a lot of research and know what you are doing with softwash

The way i have got any work i have done is for my existing window customers..easy to upsell jobs like that once i show them before and after pics

A lot harder to get Joe public to be interested

Have you got enough of your own customers to tap up and offer to do patios etc ready for spring?

Or would your uncle mind you asking his customers as it isn't window cleaning?

In short custys dont care what you are doing, they want to know two things only...............

Can you get it clean? How much will it cost?

Honestly outside of that they are not so bothered.

I have found once the job is booked in and you explain it to them they then take great pride in explaining their new knowledge to their friends whom then have to keep up with the Jonses and have to have this new Softwash service.

You need to market to the right audience as well.

How many average joes living in an average area with average jobs could afford on want there roof cleaning, its not something most people are bothered about..Ive never seen a roof being cleaned that i can recall. The same goes with most services, if you have a small driveway then most people would grab an electric pressure washer, want there car cleaned go to the local immigrants.

I know from experience when i get a call for a mobile car valet its almost always in a nice area and a nice car, the only exception seems to be when someone is selling their car or returning a lease then you get all sorts of people, so people will pay good money when its essential (think boiler breakdown) but will only pay good money for a LUXURY, which is what we are offering when they can afford it.

All i am saying is you need to market to people who not only have the need for your service, but more importantly can afford your service and their time is more important to them than money.

If i was to do a leaflet drop from softwashing or pressue washing i would target the posh side of town.

I think one of the main reason i get very few add ons from existing window customers is because people just are not that bothered when they hear there price, yes they will have their conny roof cleaned if your cheap enough but if youre not they are not too fussed.

@James Allen what I'd do is have a portfolio with me. Showing before and after pics of work.

What is soft washing to anyone unless they can see it? Have a YouTube clup saved on phone too etc..of the process.

I'd target houses that look like they need the service and only those. I'd door chap the lot

From what I have seen some get quite good money doing block paving depending how bad it is ie if just dirty your gonna clean it quicker than it have moss in all the joints . And I have seen some charge 4-5 £ per sq mtr upwards
