The good thing about where you are is that literally you will never e short of work. Ask Spartan who also lives in south.

You also can charge more and its expected. The average Londoners salary is 33k so use that fact and make sure you charge accordingly.

A lot of people on this forum are from other parts of the country where attitudes to money are different.

London is a whole different ball game.

I don't know how good you are but I'd be wanting £15 min and £20-£25 average for Clapham, Streatham, Tooting ect ect

Yeah PJ all very true and you hit the nail on the head...£15 minimum is the exact price i was planning on setting. People will def pay that here and given the sizes of the houses, id probably be hitting around 20/25 a house anyway. You say you don't know how good i am? Answer is i am only as good as the practice I've done at home...which isn't loads but I pretty much have it down and am also keen to learn as i go. Cheers again

Might sound mad but if you have a road on an estate do a couple for free for a couple of months and the other houses in the vicinity might come and ask you. All it's cost is a bit of time an petrol. Done it a couple of times before and on one estate have 42 out of 90 and the other 26 out of 60 and there are no other window cleaners there apart from me. I started 3 years ago after leaving a secure banking job of 12.5 years and I'm now earning more than I ever did and probably working less. Just don't forget you holidays. I did one year and had 1 week off lol!!

@Panorama window cleaning as per first post don't count the no's count the yes' instead. By that I mean learn for it to be water off a ducks back when say no. It will keep you positive at the doors/canvassing and more likely to get other customers in a round about way.

I started last March I think it were. Zero experience apart from learning at home like you. I used to do straight pull downs trad, which makes me cringe to think about now.

Had a corsa with roof racks and tbh didn't feel like a proper window cleaner until had a van and a few other things fell into place..but bide your time with the van I say. Learn a few skills and build the work up first.

Payment wise make your terms clear on tickets as some will delay and delay payment if there is the sightest chance you are not on top of these things to start with. Set the tone. These may not all be bad payers btw just ones you need to 'train'.

One tip I have for you is to get all customers contact numbers and use your spare time to canvass or learn added skills is trad pole work or using bigger channels etc..everything you do now will save you time down the line.

Best of luck.

Ps you are over thinking all lol. Get out and don't think at all

Listen to Chris33, panorama. And check out his canvassing blog if you haven't already, helped me stay motivated. I'm a month in and like you faced all 'no' on my first attempt at canvassing. Don't let it bother you, once you get a couple of houses things start to snowball. I've picked up a good few jobs just being stopped in the street and now starting to get recommendations through. Went from zero to thirty odd houses in a couple of weeks and I'm an oddball, so it wasn't my charm /emoticons/wink.png

The magic number in your head is around 100 custys, at that point everyone I knows rounds took off big time, more work finds you then you find yourself. Its a great feeling when you go into a road with 1 custys and come out with 4/5

Everyone will do things differently,

I never bothered with trad, not only because i dont like heights but i also didnt like the image in my head i had about it, wfp looked more glamorous to me, van mounted systems and expensive bits of carbon vs seeing the local trad guy carrying his ladders round town. Both are cheap to get into imo so it doesnt really matter which way you go. People will say trad is a skill worth learning and perhaps it will be, it cant hurt, i have trad gear and ive done a few insides and shops fronts but now i have no interest in doing insides or shop front anyway.

I think to start wfp cost me about 200 quid for a d.i.y trolley, pole, ,vessels etc.

I started by leaving my full time job to take on a 30 hour job, then reduced it to 16 hours then left

I've never knocked on a door. I just dropped leaflets. Updated my social media on a regular basis. Made it known to everyone I knew and my customers I was looking for customers and most importantly made a good job of all my cleans. Positive word of mouth is the best advertising you can get.

is there a way to get notifications if someone searches for a "window cleaner" in a group you are in..on facebook

iv looked at old posts in groups and some times people ask " any one recommend a window cleaner" so i was wondering if there a way to get notifications if someone searches for that in a group!! ...so i can act a bit like a trap door spider :mask:

That's exactly how my round was built, but on the odd occassions when leaflet dropping and people doing gardening ask them pick up a few that way,
