Has anyone had this happen, My leisure battery 110amp is around 3 1/2 year old,

Latelly its been causing my controller to cut off, Flashing green light. When battery low.

It used to last around 3 days work. Now its around 1 1/2 days if less. Fully charged. Manually via smart charger.

Ive had to put a old Van battery in van incase i need to have a backup.

When its charged it shows full charge , Float.

Could some of the plates or Cells die off.

Your battery needs replacing. 3 1/2 year old battery has served you well.

This will making interesting reading as will the other guides on the same website.

#33 A guide to leisure batteries - The Camping and Caravanning Club

Over time the battery plates sulphate which is an incurable condition. As each plate sulphates it reduces that battery's capacity until it won't last the day. But the good portion of the plates that is left will still charge up and drive your pumps. It just that you have a 20 or 30 amph battery now that was originally a 110 amph battery.

Been covered a few times recently but thanks to Spruce I now charge my fairly new battery every night , If you check the voltage on the battery after about 20 mins use after a full over night charge the voltage will have dropped quite a bit .

Even my battery bought in December fully charged overnight reading was 13.2 went to work on saturday did a school took around 2 hours voltage dropped to 12.7 water was pretty cold as well so all this takes its toll on voltage .

ill look into it. if i got the battery tested would it show what amp it has when its been fully charged.peter what is hindi g

I believe that Halfords have a battery tester that can determine your battery's remaining capacity. I don't believe its totally accurate but gives you a pretty good indication. Its quite a complicated process, the mathematics of which I don't understand.

However, from past experience, not having enough charge to get you through the day is the first indicator the battery needs replacing. The second is its age.

Its over 3 years old so you are looking after it well. Its done it's job. It's time to send it to the Retirement Home for Leisure Batteries.

Battery megastore, good prices, i need a 110 with double terminals, i leave charger cables connected to the 2 smaller Terminals for Quick connection.

If it doesn't have those terminal posts then just put the eyelet onto the bolt of the battery terminal.

+ 4 year waranty
If you buy it from a Mega Store, who pays for the return to base carriage in a warranty dispute? How to do clean windows without a battery? How long will it take them to process your claim? Many years ago a battery with a longer warranty cost more than the same battery with a shorter warranty. IT WAS THE SAME BATTERY. A battery warranty isn't worth the paper its written on in most cases. If you had a battery fail in 18 months that had a 2 year warranty, you prove that your alternator didn't overcharge the battery and cause premature failure. In the best case you wouldn't get a replacement battery, but a discount off the replacement battery 'as a goodwill gesture.'

You pay more for a leisure battery from Halfords but so far they are replacing faulty batteries.

As I've said on another post, Numax will not grant a warranty on their batteries to window cleaning applications as we 'abuse' our batteries. But they are the best we have had to date. I've just replaced my son's nearly 5 year old Numax with another one.

IS IT RIGHT THE HIGHER THE ah THE LONGER YOU HAVE USEAGE WITHOUT CHARGING UP, ive always gone for a 110 ah, but bigger may be better
Battery longevity is the result of fully recharging your leisure battery as soon as used it. It isn't good practice to drain a leisure battery below 50% charge as it reduces its service life. I try to keep mine above 75%.

i agree, ill look local,, theres a big camping shop on norton high street, ill have a run up on sunday, im fine for now, as long as i remember to charge it, i have old van battery fully harged up ,ready

i dont think the charger eyelets are big enough to go onto the main terminals, ill take a look later

Leisure batteries are not designed or intended for daily use. 3 1/2 years is terrific! There are much better batteries out there (suitable for off grid daily consumption) but they cost MUCH more.

Totally agree with Spruce I bought a battery off amazon for the battery megastore with 3 year warranty now it was knackered in just over 2 years as it wasn't even lasting for a days work and I couldn't wait for another battery so I went Halfords and paid about £90 for 70ah battery .

Just think how much that spend of £90-100 actually helps you make £10,000's over the years not really that bad overall .

Is it wired to the alternator if it is check to see if it works with the van running if it does its the battery if not its the wiring from the alternator.
