Van lining

Just ordered a new van that comes ply lined

I've never bothered trying to protect the inside of a van before I just accepted that they would rot

This is my first brand new van and I want to look after it

What do people use to waterproof thier vans?

I'm thinking about getting a local roof guy to fibreglass the floor and part way up the sides but not convinced it would last

Shame you didn't ask them, when I was looking the had an extra option to coat ply with waterproof floor?! I didn't buy but may be worth calling them?! Or check brochure yourself as sales might not know.

I'm getting mine fibre glassed, just waiting on then to ring me back, going to have it so you can hose out

Protectakote is horrible stuff

Fibreglass you can buy off ebay with resin etc a lot cheaper than those kits and easy to do

Just fold it up the sides about 4 inches to make a waterproof tub

Disagree there @daveyboy . I love protecta cote. However it is just there for looks as all trafics are galvanised bodies anyhow and have 12 year anti corrosion warranties.

The transit custom also has this.
Garage floor paint from b&q. Easy to apply, waterproof and miles cheaper than speedliner. Been in my current van for eight years and only has the odd little scratch /emoticons/smile.png

I'm ordering a fibreglass kit from arc-rite for the inside of me van and am being asked if I want one layer of fibre or two.

Anyone know if one layer is enough? Obviously two is thicker and stronger but will it actually be worth the extra cost of fibre and resin?

Thanks for any pointers.

We used lino...picked it up from a carpet store massive roll was on clearance & cost about a tenner...works alright. will probably go a bit more sophisticated next time but start up costs were crippling us so did it on the cheap

i use lino, every year warm months, take it all out, dry out and put back,, ive been looking for a big tray for my reel,  this is where drips come from

Id like it fibreglassed, but around the sides also

I used damproof membrane (plastic sheeting) Going to take it out at crimbo and see what it's like underneath, had a fair bit of water in there recently so going to check it's not got damp etc..if so I'll let it dry out a bit and refit some new lining.
