Hi guys

So been installing my van mount system this weekend. Cannot finish it though as order from Gardiners did not turn up.

Quick question for all van mount guys who also use a backpack on certain jobs. How do you fill the back pack up??

I used to have a 350ltr tank with 1 inch hose and valve to open up and fill pack as i went. Obviously now this is all plumbed into pump etc

I need to backpack a few jobs and have stupidly only just realised i am not sure how im going to fill up my backpacks now.

What do you do?,

Thanks lads.

on you outlet tap you can get a 2 way fitting 1 to pump and 1 to hose for backpack, i've seen these but i cant remember where i think from a fb supplier ill check, otherwise get a submersible pump wired in they fill backpacks in about 10 secs, i have 2 outlets in my tank so i dont need either

I don't fill my backpack from my main tank, I just carry two 25L containers (which also act as a backup should I use all my 350L).

@simon does that submersible pump allow full van mount to still be used as well? As in both van mount and backpack could be used on the same day from same tank

One of these

1100GPH Marine Bilge Pump Submersible Yacht Boat Water Pump 12V | eBay

Some big bore hose (28mm i think )

12v old backpack battery or wire to van mount battery

Switch

Job done

This is what i use to fill drums from water storage in my garden

Doesn't like to pump over 3m distance as designed to empty leaking boats but fine to do what you need

Or Use your pole hose, turn pressure right for 5 minutes. Not the best way but works. I generally fill mine from my storage tank when I fill my van up.

yes the pump just sits in the tank and is wired to a battery, so one person can fill backpack while the other uses van mount , i don't have this system but seen plenty that do on fb

Or use a wide bore hose direct to a second outlet on the tank or some sort of splitter for the outlet like 1 minute in on this vid

I was using 25 litre barrels and filling Backpacks, I am backpack only and have been taking as many as 13 Barrels to work in my Berlingo but that's finished now, I have just taken delivery of a 210 Litre tank which fits perfectly in the back of the Car and I can still get 3 Backpacks, a further 25 Litre Barrel in the back and another 3 behind my seat, I had a Backpack Battery delivered from Gardiners yesterday, A Bilge Pump from ebay was delivered last week and I'm waiting for a Fuel delivery Nozzle to arrive today. This weekend a friend is going to help me Ratchet Strap the Tank in behind the back seat, then we are installing a Bilge Pump into the Tank which will be Glued to the Base, this will be wired to the Battery, a separate on off switch will me mounted in the back of the Vehicle which will be wired to the battery and a vacuum cleaner hose attached to the fuel gun, should take no more than 30 seconds to fill a Backpack.
