I can put it on my ads etc now, there's a couple of things there from when I was real young that I'm not particularly proud of but just boy's will be boy's kinda stuff nothing actually criminal. 1984 blinkin eck that enhanced one digs deep don't it.

Got my first certificate from social services for fostering foundation course as well today yey.

Not particularly interesting I know but hey, made me happy lol.

Good on you mate, total respect giving children a chance need more people like you and your mrs in this world

Amazing how much you actually learn in a few days on those courses, I reckon everyone that can should do it as I was staggered at how many kids there really are that need the help in my area alone and it's one of the reasons I decided on window cleaning as a career choice as well cos I can work around it if I need to.

Top job Ian that's great giving kids the chance they need to have a life. Everyone else has pretty much said what i want to say about this but it really is great that you're doing this.

We need more people like yourself in this world. Well done mate.

Cheers Iain, 8 months of assessments to go yet though and may not even pass panel but even if we don't we can say we tried.

Keep at it dodge you will get there its hard work though we have a 5 year old girl who thinks she is in charge with us at the moment well she has been here over a year now they say she is going up for adoption but 6 months down the line cant find anyone willing to take her on she is very hard work mate

Foundation course opened my eyes to the pitfalls Garyboy but it strengthened the belief that we can do it too and I'm sure that everything you're doing for the little girl will help her in the future, the main thing I came away from the course with is it's not just about providing the right environment now, it's about rebuilding their lives and preparing them more for the future. It's you that gets my respect mate and others like ya that are already there helping these kids, it's wierd we don't want another of our own but can't wait to get started with this.

Yes keep at it mate can be very rewarding. After all they are just kids who havent been looked after properly as you say you need to help them on the right path for the future. We once had a brother and sister with us fir over a year and the little boy couldnt even speak because he wasnt taught to but when he left he was top at maths could speak very well and they were a lovely couple of kids they went back to mum wonder how they are now! Hopefully mum learnt her lesson she realy had to prove herself but last i heard she was slipping back to her old ways but scraping buy

Lets hope they're well mate, wow that much improvement in such a short time cos a year really ain't long is it. Gives people like me something to aspire to mate it really does. Ya got my respect mate and I figure one or two reading this as well, I don't really deserve any I've not done anything yet but that there is what I'm going into it for.

Yes it was a little over a year prob closer to 18 months but once he started learning he was like a sponge he would absorb anything loved counting and writing numbers and spelling things out you would hear him in the back of the car spelling t-e-s-c-o he ws a very bright kid obviously the school do loads for looked after children they become first before any other child

Yeah we're looking at boys a little younger than our 10 yr old boy as we think he'll feel like he's a big brother to them and they can share interests. He was the only reason we had any doubts to be honest but he's as up for it as we are and looking forward to being the big brother and helping someone out. To be honest we wouldn't turn away a child of any age if there was nowhere else though and open minded about girls as well but just think thats gonna be best for us in the long run.

The letting go concerns me a bit especially as we're looking more at long term placement, we're both hoping thats something we can cope with as well.
