Dave, go for it, I did the same in January and almost have 200 customers. One thing you must remember is that its DAM hard work in the first year, but that can be said for any startup business.

Get some cards or flyers done (the more simple the better, my new ones simply was "WINDOW CLEANER" and my name, number, website and email.

I am almost ready to go full time, and have planned January for the big D day.

good luck.

Koop- sound great mate.

I'm going to use my holiday at work to do one Friday a month to begin, then once the Friday fills up, I'll talk to work about going part time, then I'll do windy on thurs and Friday. And then when that fills up, I'll do 2days at current job and 3 days windy /emoticons/smile.png

Was thinking of getting a little sign that I could put up whilst working on a house to draw more business??

you dont need to use up your holiday at the beginning unless you start getting about 150 customers. I have found if you spread them over the month its enought to just work saturday and then saturday and sunday. but after 8 months I am now too busy and need to start taking a day off a week just to keep up.

VISTA print have a massive sale on now. you can get a small banner and a car door magnet free and only pay for the postage. USE it to get at least 4 FREE things and just pay for postage. if you want 2 banners then do a seperate order and do the same again. I got 2 banners and 2 car door magnets and a few other things FREE and the total cost was £12

Sweet in going on there now.

I can't really do Saturday and Sunday as my current job uses most of these ontop of week days lol

having just window cleaner card on the card is good but... it looks better if you have a business name on it i reckon /emoticons/smile.png so it looks like your a professional company

Also vistaprint always have a sale on regardless /emoticons/tongue.png its nothing new their lol

You could get a virtual office or register a PO box.

Virtual offices and business addresses are about £10 a month, depending on what you want it to do. You could get it cheaper if it's just a forwarding address. Lots of businesses do this for a variety of reasons. Your situation is one of them and one of the reasons virtual offices exist! They can also provide virtual PA's and telephone answering services. Regus are one of the biggest companies in the UK to offer this service.

You can get a PO box from Royal Mail for £185 for 12 months and it's perfectly legit to set up a business against a PO box. You can either collect your post from Royal Mail or they can deliver it to you, for a fee.
